Update: The beast...
I don't remember what thread I posted in pertaining to my bearing issues from the convention. I think I posted some stuff in the convention thread, but I'm just starting a new thread.
I pulled the car in and put it on a lift last night at Jen's shop, to take another look at the bottom end. From what I've read/researched, bearing failure would show heavy metallic content in the pans, and I don't recall seeing this in the past. Pulling the pans last night also showed no bearing material from whatever oil was left in the motor. Good sign.
Another good sign: None of the caps (rod or crank) show discoloration in the SLIGHTEST. Rod/Crank cap discoloration from heat should be evident within a matter of minutes of running a motor on bad bearings. I drove it for roughly a half hour with what I suspected was bearing noise, keeping it below 3krpm.
I left most of everything off of the car that I took off to get to the pans, so this weekend I'll be pulling the timing cover and everything in it's way to get to the chain oil squirter. The only issue I have is that I can't find the old squirter so I'll be pulling one from a motor in the shop. I'll be replacing the chain guides as well, as I honestly feel the source of the "marble" noise is from the plastic from the chain guide slapping against the aluminum portion of the guide. We found plastic tabs from the chain guide in the pans so they need to be replaced.
All in all, I'm very optimistic that I'll have the car on the road shortly, pending another ECU.
