Update: The beast...
I don't remember what thread I posted in pertaining to my bearing issues from the convention. I think I posted some stuff in the convention thread, but I'm just starting a new thread.

I pulled the car in and put it on a lift last night at Jen's shop, to take another look at the bottom end. From what I've read/researched, bearing failure would show heavy metallic content in the pans, and I don't recall seeing this in the past. Pulling the pans last night also showed no bearing material from whatever oil was left in the motor. Good sign.

Another good sign: None of the caps (rod or crank) show discoloration in the SLIGHTEST. Rod/Crank cap discoloration from heat should be evident within a matter of minutes of running a motor on bad bearings. I drove it for roughly a half hour with what I suspected was bearing noise, keeping it below 3krpm.

I left most of everything off of the car that I took off to get to the pans, so this weekend I'll be pulling the timing cover and everything in it's way to get to the chain oil squirter. The only issue I have is that I can't find the old squirter so I'll be pulling one from a motor in the shop. I'll be replacing the chain guides as well, as I honestly feel the source of the "marble" noise is from the plastic from the chain guide slapping against the aluminum portion of the guide. We found plastic tabs from the chain guide in the pans so they need to be replaced.

All in all, I'm very optimistic that I'll have the car on the road shortly, pending another ECU.

good to hear. Did you use the newer style guides. The old ones were crappy plastic and the new ones are much beefier.

Did your chain oiler pop out again on you?

Good luck with your project at hand. Im sure it will turn out good. Did you check all your lifters as well. I had a stuck lifter one time that sounded like rod knock but it was intermittent.

Good to see things are moving in the right direction. This is off topic, but I never asked: did the seats work out well for you?

Seats are great! I haven't been able to drive the car to REALLY test them out yet, but they fit me nice and snug

Ashton - I never did get a chance to fix the chain oiler. That's what I plan on doing this weekend.

Nice I was peeking at those when you were getting the car on the trailer in CT. I have the red ones although I do like the look of the gray they almost look OEM in your car. I have had Tenzo R seats (never installed just sold after sitting in them) and although the pricing is different I think it is def worth it for Recaros.

Almost finished with it. Put the oil squirter back in with loctite red. Just need to button some thigs back up and wait on an ECU. Hopefully will have her back on the road shortly! At least before the harsh winter sets in!
