If you are planning on getting a 2871 on a VE( ve cams) please get the one with for external wastegate the internal one on a ve WILL HAVE several probs with boost creep (I have this prob and several costumer too)that is why I allways recomend t3 turbine housing from 2871 over. In your case I would prefer the 3071 over the 2871 is a LOT better match for a VE.Remember 12lbs on a VE with this setup will be 19-20 on a DE.
Cheers.

Some of the others have what would appear to be the "wrong" exhaust outlet flange designed for the RB series engines. I would avoid dealing with that problem. They also have Inconel exhaust wheels which are nice but very expensive and add to the price tag. Frankly, I don't think you'll even be able to find this turbo for sale if you tried.
The others have a "universal" compressor outlet which is no big deal at all, but you won't be able to take advantage of the great Nissan cast aluminum compressor outlet pipes.
The 56 trim compressor wheel is stretching the design a bit too far in my opinion.
The 48 trim compressor wheel is not aggressive enough in my opinion.

That leaves you basically with only one option, and it is the right one. =]

In Garrett's turbo naming scheme, you're basically correct.

turbo selection will depend on what kind of manifold you plan to use. Every one has there opinion but I suggest that you do some research. This way you can find whats right for you. This is how I chose the turbo for my ve-t.

Can anyone verify 3071>2871?

EDIT: Also, my engine has 16VE cams. Have been reading peoples comments about using the 3071 with stock VE cams, which I don't have. Does it matter?

If you're going to do a T3 flange, then yah, go for the GT3071R. You might as well. The GT2871R is the recommendation if you're going to stick with a T2 flange.
jpsr20det just likes to see the GT2871R on a T3 flange. And sure, that makes some sense, but like he said if you're doing T3 flange you might as well go with the GT3071R.

I like how you've gone from the tiny GT2860RS to the heady GT3071R in the span of 14 posts...

As for the cams comment. Yes the cams matter. The more cam you have (specifically overlap), the more likely you should go with a larger exhaust side at the least.

What can I say, I'm easily persuaded. Besides, as opposed to others, I DO tend to listen to advise :P

Will it still be Daily Drive-able with the 3071?

Absolutely. Although I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that...
To give reference, I'm used to a RWD DET with a GT3076R on it and it was a very good combination of Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hide.
Cruise around town and keep a low profile or give some boosted Cobras a lesson in 4 cylinder domination.

Lol, I meant using it as a DD, and be drive-able (How do you spell that? XD).

Haven't decided yet on what manifold, etc, because I'd like to know what (basic) turbo would take full (or at least the most) advantage of my Calum RTv2, with 8000 RPM revlimit.

And I'm gonna build the rest of the setup accordingly.

I will be running a gt3071r with my ve-t project. It will not be a DD. My current turbo car is streetable but using it for a DD would just suck. Traction is a issue.

3071 will have better spool in a ve-t than a t28 on a de.. think about it, I know that for fact.
here is a comparo... same setup 3071 vs t28 both turbos t2 0.86. 10lbs if I remember correctly on this 2 turbos.RR motor.

If you choose a 2871 or 3071 t2(t3 way better match for the ve) please do external wastegate otherwise you will have some probs.nad also if you are planning of use sr16cams it can be used but with some cams gears... and do not forget the meth water injection.
