You could use a calum or jwt ecu programed to your setup and use the safc2 for fine tuning. I would not use a stock ecu and the safc-2. it will work but you will only be able to go so far. I have aem ems for my ve-t which will be making much more power than my de-t car.

I wouldn't spend the money on the VE, then boosting it. Just a DET with a decently sized snail should do the trick. Unless your bonus will be more then 5k...

I vote DE+T, spend money on turbo parts and use part of the money for suspension and brakes.

Invest the rest.

get a DET bottom half mix with a VE head gead get a nice t28 with a nistune ecu and call it a day. but mind you this whole deal with all the supporting mods might get you close to you money cap.

It can easily be done with a S-AFC especially is he has a decent programed ECU for a base tune. I have seen countless cars including my own car get some real good tunes with a S-AFC. If he were to get a Calum / JWT ECU with a decent base tune the S-AFC can clean up the tune a bunch and help with making nice power.

Hell even with a stock DE ECU the car can be tuned with a S-AFC and run great. I know of a handful of boosted stock blocked VE's tuned with a S-AFC and a NA DE ECU and they run perfect and are quite impressive.

I agree on this also, SAFC is a very practical tool if you know when should be used.

I defend the S-AFC because I have seen many impressive cars tuned with them. When used with a ECU that has a nice base map they can be very impressive. I have a friend back home who has a 1,000 whp Supra tuned with a S-AFC.

I'd just also like to see spark control, that's all. SAFC + MSD ignition control would be acceptable.

I just tuned a stock ECU + safc B13 with T28, 285whp @ 13psi. Also on a JWT it works wonderful for fine tuning.
