Pshhh only 180psi? I hit 10k psi, too bad warp speed needs 10,001 psi, but my motor can't handle that.



What happened?

K so I pressured tested the intercooler piping to 25 psi and WOW is all I can say! I have about 4 couplers that were leaking air. I almost got knocked out cuz the tester poped off at 20 psi. So I got the intercooler pipeing good now I need to pressure test the throttle body. Problem is when I put the tester on the throttle body I have air coming out what I beleive is the idle control valve, its a nipple behind the tps hideing in the back. What do I need to do with it, it is currently just uncovered. Car feels awesome and is picking power up faster but I still have a boost leak at 12 psi.

What do you mean just uncovered??? Cap it off if it is! That's a boost leak plain as day...

Oh and just for the sake of what you're doing, if you pressure test from the compressor outlet (first coupler after turbo), then you're pressure testing the entire system. No need to re pressure test at the throttle body. I normally disconnect the first coupler and pressure test everything at once. Bigger leaks are more prominent, so they're easy to fix first (injector seals, etc)

How do you know you have boost leak at 12 psi and 15 psi. Are you running a t25 on a manual boost controller. What you may be thinking is a boost leak could be more of a cheap manual boost controller boost spike and also the turbo efficiancy running out. Just putting my 2 cents in for a different point of view.

hehe no cheap parts here, Im running a 2871r and as far as the boost controller is concerned its a greddy profec type S . The boost now is just fluttering once it hits 12 psi to about 17 psi. Still short of the 20 psi im going for.

TEkkie I had planned on testing the whole thing and then I ran into that leak at the throttle body, So I just went ahead and tested the piping until I could figure out if that nipple needs to be sealed. I was just unsure because at idle it has vacuum but with rev it starts to go the other way around. So I do need to cap that off and any idea what to use?.I tried hose clamps but that kept snapping, its a really small nipple. Isn't the idle control valve suppose to be uncovered to keep the car running with the throttle plate closed?

That's weird maybe your boost controller is off? I had a greddy profec-b and my boost kept spiking and dropping. Turns out the control box was bad and everything is find after I changed that out.

sneaky are u talking about the boost controler solenoid that the boost lines conect to and where did u buy a new one and how much was it?
