Another thread that is more along the lines of what we are talking about here.

Let's Debate: Is drivetrain loss a percentage or a constant?? - Pontiac Solstice Forum

Vadim, they seem to be on the same page as us over here (if maybe half a step behind). Good to see the intelligent discourse over there.

Subaru's for the lose weight wise. That awd takes away hp as well as weighs them down. At a weight of atleast 1k lbs heavier than our se-rs, maybe more if you did lots weight weight reduction like me. That weight makes a huge difference. My buddy dynoed 380awhp in his subaru and took me for a ride and it felt slow. Somehow my t-25 on 18psi and some BC2 cams beat him. lol maybe its the 1,400lb weight difference...

At 380whp and 3100lbs wrx has .12 and at 270whp and 2000lbs my car is .135. So driving and uhh not going from a stop where awd kills anything fwd.

This is more of what I was expecting from this thread. A layout of the avg losses, then comparing weight.

Why did it take so many posts to get here?

I dont know. Anytime anyone is talking crap saying there car is the fastest thing ever. I ask for dyno numbers and weight and then do the math...comes out with a pretty realistic result if you can drive and not spin to all hell. But no one will beat me when my new motor is done and I have a million horsepower muahaha...600 maybe?

In the hustle and bustle I got too focused on the power question that was asked, and didn't realize his general concern. =(

I don't like that guy's reasoning at all. His bike example doesn't translate to cars at all, since cars have fluid filled gear boxes. It would be nice if it were constant, it's just not.
