How to know what boost level is safe to run?
Hey,

I was wondering how you would know how much boost is safe to run? Is an A/F ratio gauge essential or is there some other way to tell besides boosting until your engine blows I know some(alot?! idk) of the people on this board don't have A/F ratio gauges and are boosted. So how do you know the limit? Something I quite never understood.

Thanks again!

If you run a stock wastegate, at 7 psi preferably, then you should be safe on a base calum tune.

If you have even the slightest thought about adding boost or tuning your timing a wideband is a must.

I personally don't think I could live without a wideband

I'm sorry, you didn't ask your question in all caps. I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. Please repost in all caps to show us you're serious.

There are so many factors. Depends a lot on the engine, turbo, and tuning capabilities.

Hope this helps.

Could you tune it w/out a wideband?

I guess I'm trying to figure out whether or not I need to get a wideband if raising boost beyond stock levels. I'll be using a JWT ECU.

Is a wideband recommended when going a few psi over stock or is it really only needed if you are really pushing high boost levels?

Thanks!
