I rig up a tester ( using a bicycle pump and my pressure tester) and it is the wastegate, it would not hold pressure for ****. Seems like there is a big hole causing it to leak right out after pressure it applied to it..now i have to take the turbo back off
later when i get home ill take pics of the tester.

That's a shame. Was it supposed to be a known good wastegate?

What are the details of your setup? I have replaced a wastegate actuator with the turbo still on the motor....it wasn't even that bad. Hardest part was the c-clip holding the end of the rod to the flapper. It can be done! I also bought an "EBAY brand" actuator, it worked really good and was very cheap.

Yea. but come to remember this problem started right before the oil leak i had..i just never thought it was bad. o well you live and learn..

I have a gt2871r with a gtir mani.
I was thinking of going with a atp wastegate. Ima have to see if its a straight rod so i won't have to modify anything just bolt it up and go. If i unbolt the manifold i think i can get to it a little better cause i hate draining anitfreeze.

haha dam. check aiv valve as well as the tps sensor..

This is how you test your internal wastegate actuator with a bicycle pump:o
