Out of all of your failures, what things did you learn to keep them from happening in the future?

only thing ive learned is to not daily drive a turbo car. because at some point in time its gonna leave you stranded.

should of learned to do things right the first time like change rod bearings and refresh the motor when you got it. With new seals all that stuff.

I was going to say the same. I didn't change mine, but probably will if I ever do any work in there.

They will hold up to stock DET power but, once you start pushing more power, expect failures.

Gomba, I can assure you most people that have issues took shortcuts with their setups. Granted you can get a crappy motor, but if i you get it from a trusted source you will be fine.

ive gotten all my motors from soko, not a single problem at all with the motors internally. The last motor i got from them literally looked brand new. Probably came from a wrecked car cuz every single bolt, every surface, every seal, under the valve cover, everything was like it was just purchased new and intalled. Not a drop of grease not a burn mark under the valve cover, the thing was perfect, best motor i have ever seen. Even the injector rail was still anodized colored and not even bent from shipping because they ship them right.

Too bad the owner of the car the motor went into was an idiot and ran the car hard without the wastegate line on and cracked the ring lands. It was a sad day, haha

Once I got my setup dialed in I daily drove my 1994 Se-r with a GT28R for over 4 years solid. I am talking 100 mile round trips to work 4 days a week, and driving the hell out of it on the weekend. I had a backup vehicle in case something went wrong but for the most part I only ended up driving the back up vehicle in the snow. The only reason I am not driving it anymore is because I sold the turbo setup a while back with the intention of buying another car. That didn't happen (economy really took a toll on my profession) and I STILL drive the same car everyday but only now I am NA. You have to spend the money upfront on quality parts and not cut corners for the setup to be reliable. If you buy beat up used parts and rush your build the car will not be reliable.

Well my DD, the engine and orig fmax kit has been in two of my cars. This has been dd ever since,it's the first fmax kit produced for the public....so it has been reliable for me. It was boosted around 60,000 mi and if I am not mistaken it has around 80k mi at least on the kit.

over the weekend i went to VT. i got about 18mpg. that sucks! i filled up under 185 miles when i got there before coming home. i remember going on this trip and making it there and back on one tank of gas and then still driving around town. i cruised for the most part too. its not like i was boosting the whole freaking way!!! i need more tuning i guess!

Buy an extra Clutch cable and carry it with you at all times. GA16DE one should work if your on a stock bracket (not Andreas's extended one).

Mine ripped yesterday, I'm going to run out to the dealership and see how much a GA16DE one costs, but on Courtesey Nissan they had them for $33 while SR20 one is over $60.

uhh yeah i would say so. That is horrible gas mileage. haha. Ive always seen over 30mpg on the highway with every turbo car i have ever done and tuned. haha My car should be getting close to 40mpg once i really get done with fine tuning it. I get close to 35mpg on the highway now.

My buddies even with a dead rich jwt ecu gets over 30mpg on the highway as long as you just feather it and dont get into boost too much. Cuz as soon as you do that jwt ecu goes rich as hell.

My cars mpg also has to do with the weight of the car. It takes literally no pedal effort to keep that thing going at 75mph on the highway. Any more throttle and im just acclerating quickly
