UPDATE you won't believe because I didn't @ first.
Long story short, I tore my turbo off on Thursday to swap for a GT2860RS. I was tired of waiting on this unicorn piece and was just going to run the disco with the stock o2 housing. After I got everything off, I need the next day to go get some new bolts, nuts and lock washers. So on Friday I journey out and pick up all the necessary items. After I get back home and before I decide to venture out to the garage, I check the mail and there is a box at the front door. I think to myself, I haven't ordered any parts lately and finally glanced at the shippers name and almost passed out as the o2 housing had finally arrived and on the day I was going to put the new turbo on. Completely amazed at this outcome and timing.
I didn't take any pictures except of the position of the dump next to the the hard section of the a/c line, which is about 1/2" of clearance. The only issues was one of the studs on the exhaust side of the turbo had to be removed because it was hitting the o2 housing and would not allow it to set flush. I also had to shorten one of the bolts on the corner because it is a tight fit trying to angle the bolt down in the hole. So 3 bolts and 1 nut were used, the 5 spot is a no go, but damien mentioned this earlier in the thread. Everything else fits fine, down pipe and all. The only fabrication I had done was having an o2 bung welded on on the top of the housing next to the dump tube.
The car was put back together and the only two issues I have right at this moment was the arm on the wastegate was tweaked that it would stay open after going into boost. That problem should be an easy fix by just rotating the wastegate bracket 1/16 of inch. After we messed around with that issue we decided to go back out for another run. Well everything seemed fine until my damn intercooler pipe popped off. Limped the car back home and reconnected the pipe and cleaned up the blow by oil mess.
The only complaint I have is this damn thing is "loud". Too loud for my tastes, even at idle. There is a divider separating the wastegate, but I don't think it will completely seal just because of the design. So, I will take it and have the dump recirculated back into the downpipe. This will allow me to move the wideband down stream some because as of now, I had to cut off about an 1" piece because the dump would hit the wideband. So now the exhaust gases are blowing on it and I'm not cool with that.
So in the end, after I fix the wastegate arm issue, no more intercooler pipes blow off and the dump gets recirculated, this thing will be nasty and thats just from the first few seconds of boost I felt. I believe this dump will really help the t28 series turbos w/internal gates shine. I will post up the pic of the dump tube compared in correlation to the a/c line and where I had the o2 bung welded on tomorrow.
