I like large wastegates. The larger the better I always say. Unless you have packaging problems with that large of pipe, I would keep it and use it.

I know the argument against using a larger than needed wastegate, but I think the down-side is blown way out of proportion.

I'd rock a 50mm wastegate even if I didn't plan on making much power at all. Hell, if I could fit it and afford it, I'd do 60mm.

But I'm crazy like that.

Been so long since I've said this, so I could be backwards or completely off (the downside of not using knowledge daily)

Big wastegate = low boost.
Small wastegate = high boost.

The reasoning behind this is that the larger the wastegate, the easier the wastegate can disspell the exhaust pressures preventing boost creep.

IMO, you wouldn't have a problem with the 50mm wastegate. A little overkill for a T-28, but it'll still function the same as a 38mm or 44mm.

depending on your setup you might have some cleareance issues with the 50mm gate. I like the jgs tools gates beacause they are compact and work really well.

I like the way Ben think 50mm is not overkill by anymeans, if is done correctly (position)
Cheers.
