clutch question
I've got a brand new xtd clutch and pressure plate in my car, just broken in. Held up great with the t25 but now with the new .63 it's slipping. Question is, can I get just a stronger pressure plate with the disc that I have or should I replace both??

That all depends on the condition of the disc and if you like the feel of the disc that you are running. If the disc is in good condition you can just replace the pp but if they are in poor condition it never hurts to replace both while you have the tranny off.

I prefer a more aggressive disk to a more aggressive pp. Here's why:

Lower pressure pp is easy on your knees (for you old folk).
Lower pressure is easier on the clutch cable.
Easier on the throw-out bracket (for the thousands who have broken one of those)
Pedal modulation is easier with lighter pressure.
Thrust bearings inside the engine will last longer, not that they are going to wear that fast anyway.

If you get to the point where a ceramic disk won't hold, it will be time to get a sintered iron disk, or a heavier pp.

Go twin disc and don't look back.

TRUST me.

I want to do a twin disc setup, but it's just hard to spend over 1k on a clutch. we'll see how long my ACT extreme and 6 puck last first though. Then it's definitely a twin disc setup, light pedal feel and capable of holding 600+ sounds good to me

twin clutch is nice. but only if you are going for over 500+ very expensive though.

i personally would go with a quality 6 puck clutch

I would run a sprung 6 puck the brand is up to you.

I have had bad luck with act and spec. I have been running a clutch specialties 6 puck for quite a few years now with no problems and a much lighter pedal feel than my act extreme used to have.
