Thread: Oil coming out of jpipe

Just finished putting my old T25 back on, I put 2 bolts in the downpipe to the jpipe, and left one bolt out just in case I needed to take it off. I just wanted it to be relatively quiet while I start it....

Anyways, I started it and instantly saw a bunch of smoke coming from the manifold/turbo/jpipe area... so I jacked the car up put it on jackstands and started it again and went out and looked underneath the car. It's pissing out oil where I left the one bolt out of the downpipe.

Now, my question is.... would it be a bad restrictor or bad seals? I am using the old restrictor I had on the T25 before.... but I have a feeling its bad seals in the turbo. I can video tape it or something next time I do it if you guys need a visual.

nope, buddies turbo did the same thing. Needs a rebuild. Seals are burnt.

Mine blew a little bit of oil out of the compressor outlet when I first installed my T25. I was a little freaked out at first, but after driving it around for a few miles and "breaking it in" it went away, and I no longer have a problem with it blowing oil. Then again, mine wasn't "pissing" oil it was just a little bit. My turbo had been sitting around for a year since I got it and who knows how long before I got it.

I'll just buy one of those rebuild kits for T25's... anyone have any recommendations?

How hard would it be to replace the bearings at the same time while the turbo is apart? It's got shaft play but its in and out, not side to side
