VE-T recommendations
Hey guys,
Pretty new to the forum atleast with posting but have been reading for quite some time.
I'm putting together a boosted VE for daily driving. It's going to be mild but want to be safe. I have SRdet pistons and a complete VE.

Question 1: What head gasket (87mm) do you recommend using for a VE head on a DE block for boost?

Question 2: Would it be better to use the DET pistons in the VE block or on the RR de block?

DET pistons will work better. Compression will be around 9.3:1 with the VE head. The factory Nissan gasket from a 20V can be used I am pretty sure. But are you going over-bore?

factory DET pistons cannot be had in 87mm. You have to get forged ones. I would try to rehone and use stockers if you wanna stay cheap.

ve motor with det rods and cp pistons. the stock det pistons will work but do not have valve notches for bigger cams. vet head gasket would be the head gasket of choice. aslo you will want the the det crank.

Coheed my mistake with the bore sizing. I meant stock.
Contrim I'm using S14Det piston on theVE block. Now I can only state what I've read and the w10 /ve combo didn't mention anything about clearnace issues.
Will I be running into problems clearing the valves with no notches?

depends on which ve cams you plan to run. Its ok on the stock sr20ve cams. I would use the cp ve pistons you can them for under 600 shipped with rings, locks, pins ect. They have huge valve reliefs cut in and you can get the compression to 9:0:1.

I have stock 20VE cams and GTiR pistons and I've gone through 2 VE head cause the valves came into contact with the pistons and bent them. VET HG and revving to 6800.

I would suggest aftermarket pistons or fly cut the det pistons...

Dont tell me that!! That's pretty depressing. Short of fly cutting, is there some other reason they hit the valves? Could it have anything to do with the build not that I'm doubting your work but wondering if there is some way to avoid this.
