Well let me chime in here. Start do you really wantqneed more power? I'm not quite sure adding anymore hp really is important. Being from NY I know everyone now has race cars but i 'm not sure they are actually driving them accept to lock up money runs. I think people have lost focus on what makes the game fun. IMHO

I have yet to push my T28 as far as it'll go and there may be much more to it than most people think. However, everyone typically agrees it really starts to struggle past 300 WHP and above 330 WHP it is running a marathon with an elephant on it's back.

Adding an intake manifold would get you 300 WHP at less boost, and maybe 310 or 320 at the same boost, but you won't see the massive gains others might who have a turbo with room to grow.

A head gasket seems entirely unnecessary. *shrug*
Also, the VE head part is out of left field. You don't want to change your charge pipes or down pipe but you'll put on a VE head?

Fairly simple with proven parts is an idea I can get behind. I feel like we're in a similar situation with out cars (except yours runs). Both with T28s and both wanting more power, but both wanting to keep it simple.
I too wouldn't spend the money on a custom manifold. The stock manifolds unmodified are good for 400-500 WHP with the proper turbo. Bore one out and/or extrude hone it and it'll be even easier to get there. No need to change the downpipe or charge pipes.

This is basically my advice too if you want to make more power, but maybe do the GT2871R. 400-450 WHP shouldn't be a problem.

I completely see where these guys are coming from. I would agree, at the least, you should drive it around and enjoy it for a year or so before doing anything else to it. Take a break, relax, enjoy the car. Really think about what the expense of the project will be in time, money, temp. loss of car, loss of traction when you're done, etc.

If it needs to be faster, you're basically a turbo (and supporting fuel) away from that goal. Do you have a B13/B14 transmission? If so, I wouldn't even think about more power until you upgrade to a P11/B15.
As for the lack of traction, even if you don't do anything else, you should consider progressive boost with an electronic boost controller (now you'll have three boxes instead of just one...). Boost by gear, speed, rpm, throttle position, etc. can work wonders.

He's right. At the end of the day it's up to you.

ben thanks for the advice. i do need more power though.

i think ill skip the head gasket, and just strap on a ebay gtir ex mani and a 718r with the 64 ex housing and down the road a 02 intake mani or similiar. this will easily get me to my 350-380whp goal.

i believe that set up would be completely reliable on my stock de. im correct in thinking this right fellas ?

i have a freshly rebuilt p11 tranny with a phantom grip. i dont see myself breaking anything more or less then i already have. maybe an axle here or there, my act ext pp and 6 puck sprung set up are still in good condtion.

i do need more power lol. and yes ny has completely lost focus of what made the game fun for me when i was coming up and growing up. it seems like theres not that many fast imports out on the streets anymore unless like you said its a money run. i have way more fun with the domestic boys anyways. wooping a v8's is priceless.

so in finale i think ive decided on a bigger turbo, disco or 718r with a 64 ex housing. guys feel free to chime in with wich turbo to go with. keep in mind it will never see more then 18 pounds of boost since the motor is stock. wait for my cf hatch to get here and grab some drag radials.

i APPRECIATE everyones feedback !!

a disco would be great, but i would go with the 718r for meets your power goals. Also it would save you from getting board and doing it again.

I did not know you had a stock de, I atlease thought it was a det. DE-T all day!

New York!!!

I pretty much maxed my old T28 turbo out at 348whp uncorrected, 328whp SAE corrected. That's really way above the actual limit though.

Everything I know tells me you should be just fine with the setup you described on a stock DE.[/QUOTE]

I recommend it (if I ever upgrade from the T28 that's what I'm getting) and I think most other people would too. I recall a thread where maybe Andreas said he didn't like it, and would use something else, but now that I think about it more I'm pretty sure he wasn't a fan of the GT2876R. I can't remember for sure.

Edit: I found it. It's the GT2876R he doesn't like and I agree with him there.

Pro of the 64 will be quicker spool. Pro of the 84 will max power ceiling. When given those choices I've always picked the bigger AR and have always been very happy I did. You're not looking for max power though. Like I said, you could do 450 WHP if you wanted. If you only want 380 WHP or so, the 64 might be an option.

Sorry for not being definitive.
