i wonder if i have this going on in my engine. But i am no sure now. My oil pressure usually stays around 40psi at idle, but drops to about 25 or so after lots of beating. I have a GTiR pump. But i have to fix my oil pressure gauge now because it wasn't reading properly.

It got really cold here and I am running 20w50 VR1 from the drags and it hit 120psi on the gauge and blew the oil sending unit up. Now it just leaks right out of the sender. Stupid cheap gauge!

So hopefully when I take my pan off I don't see an oiler in there lol.

Loctite red worked beautifully, FWIW. Oh, and running castrol.

Added to the list of things to check out over winter. I am getting a bit of timing chain noise on start up, but i just switched from 20w50 valvoline to 10w40 castrol. It was on sale otherwise i always run valvoline products. I am getting slightly lower oil pressure at idle as well. But i am running a crappy de oil pump, so low oil pressure is to be expected.

So if this pops out it's most likely found in the oil pan?
Also, could this cause a mechanical tick at part throttle that isn't there at idle or over 70% throttle?

Yep. As far as mechanical tick, there was a ton of chain/head noise at lower to mid rpms, and what sounded like marbles bouncing around at higher rpm (above 3500rpm). The squirter failure starved upper oil galleys of required pressure.

yeah, the red threadlocker worked great on mine. I still ran the mobil 1 15w50 oil, and it has not popped back out yet.

Ok, That sounds familier, that marble sound (up to 3,500 but not over), is that the squirter bouncing around?
The big question is: so now is this a "rebuildable" situation, or is time for another engine. My cams look very clean, but I'm hoping fresh lower every thing. Oil pump, all bearings, crank redone, possible chain, possible adjuster, etc?

It is definitely a rebuildable situation, depending on the amount of starvation to the rod and main bearings. The chain oiler pin is located at the "end" of the galley responsible for feeding oil to these parts.

The marble-esque noise is not from the pin bouncing around, however from a combination of lack of chain lubrication, as well as bearing noise from rods/mains.

Inspect/replace bearings, as priority. Replace chain tensioner for good measure (wouldn't hurt), and oil pump if you feel the need to. You may as well replace the oil pump/water pump while you're in there, at least I would.
