Why oh why does making a reliable turbo engine have to be so damn hard, expensive, time consuming and complicated?

If it were easier, I'd imagine we'd see many more turbocharged cars on the road

An idea Ben: When you take your car down for the winter (if you have that intention), it'd be good to give the motor a good once over and check everything out to be on the safe side. IMHO, that should be done yearly as part of the "winterization" process.

You must forget that I live(d) in El Paso... Not very much different than your weather

Very true. Just threw that out there in case he drives it as a "seasonal" car. I hope to have mine back on the road by mid December, personally. I suspect weather will be worse this year in MD than in previous years, so as long as I can get it back on the road, I don't mind stashing it in a garage until spring.

I got to tear the turbo car apart so I can start my ve-t project. I am hoping to have my ve-t up and running for spring. I will make sure to pay attention to chain oiler since I am doing a full build on my ve motor.

Any suggestions on removing the pin if it hasn't already come out on its own? I'm rebuilding a DET block right now and I'd love to take care of this potential problem. I tried getting one out of a spare block with pliers and vice grips and it wouldn't budge.

It's pressed in. If it doesn't budge, then I wouldn't mess with it. You could potentially do more damage to the squirter by pulling it out. If you're slow and careful, you can twist it out slowly.

Then just use red loctite gel or something better, and apply it before you remount the pin. Give it a few twists as you're putting it in to help start the bond process. But remember how it's supposed to sit on the block.

There it is right above the sprocket.

I think Cliff or Ashton have pics of it on its own.
