when did i say it was going to over heat??? all i said is that the water will eventually keep getting warmer and eventually be one constant temp! thats how it was for me in the summer

and if its cold outside it will take forever for the car to heat up and its not good to run a car when its not up to operating temp.

depending on the weather its really just not good to do i belive i was running rich because of the operating temps were so low i cant remember

So basically the only ill affects are that in colder temps your coolant temp sensor will be reading cooler and the ecu will dump more fuel and idle up in order to "warm" the car up.

I run without it on the U13DET setup. No problems here.

you could just tune you warm up fuel enrichment accordingly if you really need to. depending on the ems you are running you could adjust the idle warm up and the coolant temp enrichment accordingly to sustain a higher rpm and a little more fuel till the car is warmed up.

not sure if you have the ability or not. just saying that is a option

tuning with calum basic at the moment...been using rom editor to do everything, I need to learn tunerpro a little better. I remember seeing cold start enrichment tables and all on there.

oil contamination. ring and ring land wear.

i know removing t stat completlly is a bad idea.
modifying a stock tstat is a much better idea

look a a stock tstat
the smaller round part is used to block the cyl head bypass once the tstat is open

the tstat is on the suction side of the water pump if the cyl head tube is not blocked off the coolant will flow in a loop from the hot head to the cool tstat housing
i have found this to cause higher temps at low engine speed and detionation in high hp cars

also with no tstat the coolant flows to fast through the engine and radiator . if coolant flows to fast it cannot remove enuph heat

when i ran no tstat i had more probs with head lift and detionation

mearlly modifying a stock tstat stuck in the open positon lowered coolant temps but more importantlly increased cylinder head temp consistancy.

the combution chamber temp is so crucal with high hp turbo engines

it you are running a t2 based turbo then most of this wont matter to you

ok just like over heating is bad overcooling is bad also because we need the engine to reach operating temp as fast as possible thats why it has a thomostart . when an object get hot it expands when it cools it contract so due to this we need the engine to reach it temp as fast as possible so that the cylinder walls could expand to give the rings the right clearance.....if thomostart is remove that is overcooling so the engine may take a long while to reach it normal temp which may cause more ware on your engine

what exactly makes you want to not use the thermo?
