Nah his is wet at least, mine was completely dry.
If you do get stuck with this motor and can't return it. There is something you can do. It will be a lot of work and time, but would leave you space to upgrade a bunch of internals.
You would have to take it completely apart, hot tank or flush with diesel. Get ready to replace the following items...
- Gaskets and Seals (Head, valve cover, oil pan, front main, rear main, etc.)
- Timing Chain Tensioner
- Cam Oil squirters
- Cylinder Oil squirters
- Oil Pump
- Oil Pressure Sensor
- Piston Rings might be gone
- Turbo would need to be rebuilt, I can't imagine how much of that crap is in there.
