i also really dont feel the housing is the problem, otherwise if it were to create so much back pressure, why would they create it if it wasnt that good, also im sure you arent the first person to use that housing and im sure the other ppl have had no ill issues with it. just saying

I don't have any clue. I lost 30whp from changing my VET cams to the VE cams. I have since gone back to VET cams. Less overlap, smaller duration cams apparently make more power on this turbo. I don't see how a SR16 cam straight up would make any more power. I am 100% certain on this setup they will lose power.

Also, the T3 GT3071r uses the T31 compressor in the 84 trim, whereas the 3071 in the T2 footprint uses a smaller wheel. So it makes sense why the T3 would perform better. It's because it does in fact flow more.

Let me ask you guys this, how much power do you think I could make if I got a .48 T3 housing and slapped it on? Compared to a 63? 82?

So maybe this setup's restriction isn't the housing, but the cams... But the standard VE cams still made a lot less power than these. On the VET cams my peak power on 15psi is just BARELY less than my peak power on the log manifold on the same boost, and according to the dyno the spool is actually slower. Sure I see 15psi at 4Krpm but that same 15psi doesnt start heaving torque until 5000rpm. Even the .63 hit harder with the log manifold.

Long story short, my power is almost identical to last year. But I am using a tubular manifold now.

Actually I believe the loss of VE is why this setup doesn't do better. VEs love flow. That's one thing I have learned through all this. Though I don't have any way of measuring backpressure, It is pretty apparent when the intake cam only makes 4whp more when switching, that there is some excessive backpressure.

No doubt it isn't an ultimate restriction, I can push this farther. I can heave in 30+psi of boost and toss in some 110 octane fuel and see what it belches out. But I think I would be totally unimpressed unless I had a standalone to take advantage of the better gas. Even with the higher boost levels there is no way this thing will flow what the setup/motor should be able to do on paper.

I still belive the gt3076r is not the problem ....their are plenty of honda guys on B series motors hitting 500whp on it ....and some decent power DET guys running it also , but these problems you are having I think have to be related to tunning ....if they are not and they are related to the turbo ....it makes me worried about hittting my goals with almost the same turbo...

it isn't the turbo. I know the turbo isn't the issue. But there isn't anyone here running the .78 housing. The honda guys dont touch it. They stay with the tried and true stuff. I've seen one DET make over 500whp on this housing but it has a lot more work done to it, race gas, and 33psi of boost at sea level.

water meth injection and some real tuning will get you where you need to be. I never run a jwt ecu with out a piggy back controller. I am going to a aem ems for my ve-t setup and water meth injection.

agreed i believe your biggest issue is the tune, the ecu, its very limiting to the fact that your modifications out weigh the capabilities of the ecu and the tune, it needs to be tuned down to the T, that piggyback ecu isnt cutting it at all

That could be the issue, the pull was done in 3rd gear, just like last year. 4th gear gets over 130mph so we didn't use it.

Water meth is a nice addition, but shouldn't be necessary for me to break 400whp.

I know it is possible to break 400whp uncorrected. The AFRs aren't perfect, but they are pretty decent. It gets a bit rich up top, and I know an extra 15whp could be had by leaning out the top end and revving to 7500rpm. I bet just revving higher would get the power up a bit. But I still am not breaking 300lb ft of torque. And it isn't the timing, or the AFRs. The timing in the mid range is decent. Safe. No amount of tuning is going to get me at 500whp on 24psi.

The datalogs are not showing any more air going into the engine than before. Which shows that it isn't flowing any better than before. Of course I am not sure if the .78 divided housing is the issue, but I know it is a significant bottleneck. But since noone has a corrected turbine gas flow chart for this housing I have been trying to figure something out.

I really would like to know though: if I had a 2" exhaust on this car, how bad would it affect power? How about if I had a .48ar housing? How much power would a GT2876r make with a .64ar on the VE?

The info I have so far shows that the .78 housing flows like a .48, and the T4 1.06 divided housing flows like a .63ar.

I have to diagree I know for a fact it can be done. I know it has been done with a t2 gt3071r .86 a/r.
