It's got the right wastegate and bracket and everything.... its not the compressor that isnt clearing, its the wastegate itself.

So all you have to do is shave 3/8" off, you don't have to shave it at an angle or anything, and what kind of angle?

the only thing I can think of is the waste gate bracket is not up high enough and it needs to be clocked. it would look like this on th car

you can see where I had to grind the block.

Yeah, I'll take a pic of it tomorrow and show you guys... It's kind of hard to explain. The compressor isnt touching or near the block at all, its the wastegate that is touching, and if your looking at the front of the motor (where the SR20 tag is) its touching just to left of the SR20 tag.

Can you expand on this a little more? Are you saying that the turbo comes, from Garrett, w/the wrong wastegate & bracket? Can you tell us what that looks like and where we can get the right bracket and wastegate to fit?

Thanks!

the gt28rs come with a generic waste gate and bracket. this is what the correct one looks like. when I got my gt28rs I had to buy the correct waste gate and bracket seperate. I know some places do offer it will the correct stuff most do not.

the bracket may look different depending on who makes it.

take a picture of the back side of the turbo and a close up of the bracket. I think I had to drill another set of holes to get the waste gate where it needed to be, but another company made the bracket for the gt series turbo.

if you use the stock gti-r bracket and a smaller w/g it works perfect.

I have the GTIR manifold with the GT28R. The GT28R bolts right on the GTIR manifold and what you have to do is use the T25 J-pipe and T28 wastegate and bracket. You have to bore one of the holes on the T25 J-pipe and you'll be set. Oil drain will also be an issue so you have to buy or fab the drain tube in a way that oil drains smoothly. Another problem is your turbo outlet pipe.

This are 2 parts that could be consider to make things easier on you:

3 bolt outlet adapter - GT28R/GT25R/T25 Compressor, aluminum: atpturbo.com

Well, if I use the bracket from my old stock T25, do you think it would work? It's not big enough to use two bolts to hold it in, but atleast I can get one in and tack weld the other hole in the bracket to the side of the turbo or something....

I'm going to look at some options tomorrow. I will eventually bring it down to a machine shop and see how much it would be for them to shave off the flange of the manifold.

Also, I JUST noticed this because I was too concerned about getting it to fit in the car, but my oil drain is on the top of the turbo when its hooked up to the manifold, is there any way I can rotate it so the drain is on the bottom and the feed is on the top.... or was I stupid and bought a top mount turbo?
