I am not sure 100% what I am going to run. I don't think the heavy oils are going to save this tranny. If it is going to break, it is going to break. There was fresh shockproof in there when it went. Only about 3K miles old.

I am going to try the lighter stuff. I know it may not work out with tons of power, but when gear stacks can be had for $150, or sometimes less, its worth checking out to see how it holds up.

Good info. When my trans goes i may have to just buy a non lsd one like you listed and put a phantom grip or somthing of the like in it.

To clarify you are swapping the QG gear stacks to the SR tranny case and bell housing?

yes. It is just the stacks. As long as your P11 case is still in good shape, you can just swap gear stacks to replace a gear that breaks. Very fast fix. Car was only down for 10 days, and that includes sourcing a good transmission.

If you have a non-LSD tranny, then you can use the entire rear section, gears and back casing. Only the bell housing is different.

If someone can verify the number of teeth on the B15 final drive, then this may work for the B15 trans as well. The QG and P11 have the same final drive. Same exact gear stacks.

Sooo... you could also use this method to convert a B15 to P11 ratios, correct?

Very cool stuff Coheed. I hope the new one work out for you.

could you use those gears in a b14/b13 tranny?

I believe you could do just that. I believe the only thing you would have to change is your final drive gear, but who knows? If that is the case, you could score a B15 and just wait for the right deal to come around.

As far as stuffing the different gear stack into your older trans, I don't believe the gear stacks from the P11/B15 will fit in the old casing. The gearing layout is different, so I am going to say that I am 99% positive that it won't work.

The B15 has a nicer 5th gear, so if you did change things out I would try and keep that 5th gear and just swap everything else. That would be awesome. I would bet 180+mph could be had at 7500rpm in a B14 in 5th.

In the FSM it says the pinion gear has 1 less tooth (16 instead of 17), so if you swapped the gear stacks, you would have to change the final drive as well. Luckily all the B14 trannies have the different final drive. And you can find a trans for under $100 that is beat up, or better yet, broken lol.

So to convert your B15 trans to a P11, you could just swap the gear stacks from the 1.8, and get a diff/ring gear from an older trans. That would be sick!

Not at all. Can someone move it? Or should I just make a new thread?
