So, I saw a b15 with a 5speed at the pick and pull today, now I wish I'd grabbed the tranny! It would be nice to have a spare gear stack.

I have noticed one thing with the synchromesh under long drives. After cruising on the freeway for over 20min at 80mph or so there was some noticeable gear noise under slight-decel. As soon as the pedal was pressed further it went away. Now it seems to only do this when driving for long periods, which leads me to believe that the synchromesh may be too light of a fluid for extended high speed driving.

I will be swapping back to either MT90 or get some Nissan GL4 fluid in the future. As of now it doesn't concern me because it only happens after driving for long periods at over 60mph.

I guess worst case scenario it could be a mismatch between FD and mainshaft gears. Even though the QG tranny and the SR have the same number of teeth on the FD and they are the same ratio.

You mentioned LSD options. I've read that the Nismo Non-lsd unit for the RS5f32a will work. It is part number 38420-RS360. I haven't installed it myself, but if the lsd unit from the 32V will go into the 70V. I'm sure somebody out there has attempted the 32a lsd into the 70A box.

But I always hit second pretty hard when having fun. I never expected it to break though

I'm always babying 3rd gear, and I don't ever grind gears or full-throttle upshift. And I also don't have wheel hop issues at all. Maybe it was just defective? After all, I did break one OEM axle shaft... snapped clean in half. Now I have Cardone new axles and I've broken one of those as well!

Anyway, here's the pics.

The images for these appear to be broken. Can we get a re-post?

That is not friends! Did you swap the final drive and use a differential with the swap, or did you leave it stock?

The B13 and B14 FD and LSD can be used in the P11 casing with no change to the final drive gear when using the B15 QG18DE gearstack.

I kept the factory P11 LSD and the QG18 gears swap right in. If you have the B15 2.0 transmission, you will need to swap the LSD unit out, or just swap the ring gear from the older LSD transmission.

I've been reading about this and am still confused. I've read conflicting info.

Anyone have updates on this?

So if I have a b15 LSD, what do I need to swap over the FD from my b14 LSD?

Thanks!

If you have a B15 LSD diff, you will need to change the ring gear to work with the P11 transmission. The QG gearstacks are the same as the P11. So if you wanted to use the QG stacks in a B15, you would need to change to the 4.176 ring gear. Pretty much all other transmissions other than the B15 SR came with the 4.176 ring gear, so any old LSD would work.

So if I wanted to change the B15 LSD to 4.176 I'd *only* need to swap the ring gear from my b14 LSD?
