still looking like thursday is the day for the testing. I got the trans up tonight. Going to try to get everything else done tomorrow. If things go well I may make the UN dyno day. Hope this works!

Unfortunately, you just have to baby them. If they let go in the middle of a pull and not on a shift, you just need to get a stronger trans.

Yes, the input shaft teeth are like an old man. Gone. The mainshaft 2nd gear looks more like a crack-smoker's teeth though .

Thanks!

I got the trans up and in the car tonight. Ran it up in the air in 1st and 2nd gear. No obvious issues. Everything seems to work just fine. I will find out tomorrow when I get the whole thing back on the road! I am running some ATF through the tranny right now. It is thin enough to get splashed around and hopefully drop the rest of the metal shavings to the bottom of the trans, where it can be drained out tomorrow. I will strain the fluid and see what I get out of it. One thing that does concern me is whether the heavy shockproof caused some of the issue. It is so thick that any debris in the fluid would find it very hard to sink to the bottom or even to get to the magnet. One little piece of a synchronizer or something could just float in the oil waiting to wreck your gears.

I really like the way the car shifts though. Going through the gates... there is little comparison to the older trannies. The positive shift feel with the new trans is great! Shifts like butta, and locks positively into each gear.

I will take some more pics of the transmission and post them up tomorrow to suppliment the write-up. But so far everything is going great.

ok I am adding pics to the write-up that will help explain things better. I put everything back together today. I have not driven it yet, but I filled it up with some GL4/GL5 valvoline gear lube to help clear out the rest of the ATF and old heavy shockproof. The ATF really got some stuff out of there too. There were small pieces of debris that came out of the fluid and sunk to the bottom of the drain-pan. Most pieces weren't even metal! There were little tiny pieces of leaves and stuff... oops. That's what I get for doing all this crap outside with no garage.

This gear lube will come out after I get some miles on the car. That way my synchros don't get messed up, in case this stuff doesn't work.

i had a problem running the valvoline stuff.. it made my lsd chatter really bad, i almost thought my trans was toast.. i put in some redline mt90 an now its fine, just thought you should know.

I think I am going to put some synchromesh in there on friday night. I ran MT90 before and it was ok. I think the shockproof felt better.

Btw, it WORKS! The gear stacks from the QG18 RS5F70A are a DIRECT REPLACEMENT for your P11 gears! Same gear ratios, same tooth count. No weird noises, shifts good. The GL5 stuff makes getting 1st gear sticky sometimes, even the ATF shifted better. So that stuff will not be in for long!

Are you gonna run shockproof light or heavy? I have been running the lightweight stuff for a few years and it has been working well in my stock 93 trans, which has seen boost for quite a few years now. I am not making nearly the power you are but i think the lightweight is a good happy medium.

within 5 miles of drivin while havin that valvoline stuff in, it made my lsd chatter really bad.. from take off it felt like the trans was broken, an it would vibrate while driving, i dont know alot about the p11 trans so it might not effect it the same way but for everyone else i say beware! :P
