Unfortunately, you just have to baby them. If they let go in the middle of a pull and not on a shift, you just need to get a stronger trans.

Yes, the input shaft teeth are like an old man. Gone. The mainshaft 2nd gear looks more like a crack-smoker's teeth though

I got the trans up and in the car tonight. Ran it up in the air in 1st and 2nd gear. No obvious issues. Everything seems to work just fine. I will find out tomorrow when I get the whole thing back on the road! I am running some ATF through the tranny right now. It is thin enough to get splashed around and hopefully drop the rest of the metal shavings to the bottom of the trans, where it can be drained out tomorrow. I will strain the fluid and see what I get out of it. One thing that does concern me is whether the heavy shockproof caused some of the issue. It is so thick that any debris in the fluid would find it very hard to sink to the bottom or even to get to the magnet. One little piece of a synchronizer or something could just float in the oil waiting to wreck your gears.
I really like the way the car shifts though. Going through the gates... there is little comparison to the older trannies. The positive shift feel with the new trans is great! Shifts like butta, and locks positively into each gear.
I will take some more pics of the transmission and post them up tomorrow to suppliment the write-up. But so far everything is going great.
