In need of help.....weird oil pressure
To make a long story short, my car has been acting weird lately, and I noticed this a couple days ago. When I'm accelerating, right when the turbo starts to spool, the oil pressure will drop and bounce around, and then when I shift it will be steady where it's supposed to be. Cruising down the highway, it's steady around 50psi, which is good, and at idle after warming up it's at ~15psi, which is good. I just changed the oil in it last week with Castrol Edge 10W-30 and a Mobil 1 filter, and the oil level is perfect, not low at all.

The part that has me most concerned is that when I'm accelerating, the engine will randomly loose all power for a couple seconds, and then come back. I'm thinking that this could be because of the weird oil pressure, that it starts knocking and the ECU is pulling timing to prevent the knock.
I'm running a JDM SR20DE+T (9.5:1) w/ a GTI-R turbo kit on it in my B14. Any ideas what would be causing this? I don't want to keep driving it and have it spin a bearing.

have you had any issues prior to the oil change? with your oil pressure?

The car has been breaking up randomly for a few weeks, but I just noticed the oil pressure a couple days ago. I don't really watch that gauge while accelerating, but I did and noticed it, so I don't know how long it's been doing that.

Wow the oil pressure drops to 0 right before the bov blows off.

Maybe your oil pump is going? Also you do have an oil restrictor right?

I'm thinking that your sender is failing, or the connection isn't solid. I assume it's an electrical sending unit?

Yea it's an electrical sender. I'm not running an oil restrictor as I have a -3an oil line, and read that with the GTI-R t28 you don't need one unless you run a -4an line.

that has nothing to do with your problem i would change out the electrical sender and see if it changes.

Mine has done the same thing for over a year. When I hit a certain rpm the oil pressure drops to zero, but the oil light doesn't come on. Crappy sending unit, or engine vibrations... I seems rpm dependent, and does it randomly. I wouldn't think it is my oil pump because it is new, and it did it with my VE pump, and now with the GTiR pump. I am pretty sure the sender was damaged when it saw 120psi this last summer.

If you were really at 0psi, the oil light on your dash would come on.
