Good Internal Wastegate Actuator?
Hey,

I'm looking into buying a turbo, but it doesn't come w/an internal wastegate actuator. I was wondering if someone could recommend a decent internal wastegate actuator. Something w/a 10 or 12 lb rating would be excellent. Turbo would be a GT2871R.

Supposedly from what I was reading, even w/an EBC, it's not good to go over 2x the rated boost for the actuator. Also from what I understand, the lowest boost I can run will be running straight off the actuator. So I don't want something too high.

Would this one work? http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-WGT-031&Category_Code=WGT1

I also need it to be close to the stock size/fit of a stock Garrett unit so it will clear the block. The block needs to be ground down w/the stock Garrett actuator.

Thanks!

how about you spend a bit more money and go external?

I would have to spend a lot more. The external wastegate costs twice as much as an internal one, I'd have to get a new manifold and custom downpipe.

It's much easier to just go w/an internal wastegate IMO.

Why would you have to do all of that?

Get an external flange welded to your stock manifold and walla. No boost creep. Easy boost control ect.

External is just SO much better then internal and its not super expensive like people think.

I've read a lot of posts of people having issues with this setup. The welding process seems to present a lot of issues. A lot of people have cracks and issues w/the welding on the stock manifold. I want something that will be reliable. I don't want my manifold to crack and have to get it re-welded..even once.

I had mine welded and it hasnt cracked once. Even with 20lbs of boost and the wastegate being at the top of the manifold. Send it down here and Ill get it done for you cheap.

Some people take there stuff to the worst welders and it doesnt get done right.

Then let either Andreas Miko or Snickers on the forum do it. Charles did mine months ago and its still perfect. To weld is only 50-75 bucks, external wg (i got my Tial 40mm for 175) and a dump tube. Youll make alot more power over internal.

In the meantime while I consider that, got suggestions on an actuator?
