PS... compression numbers are perfect, all within 5 of eachother

a friend of mine was on the same problem on his 98 eclipse gst, the reason was some toasted valves sealings. the car looks like here in mexico say " a taqueria on wheels" he changed the sealings and the smoke desapears.

Well, I have to take the head off now anyways, so I will take a close look at everything. I did a compression test, and went to put the spark plugs in... got to the 3rd cylinder and the spark plug stripped out inside the hole (I wasnt even tightening it.... I felt no resistance at all) I pulled the socket out and looked and there it was, half of the spark plug was sitting down in the hole. Anyways, I am taking the head off to remove that and I will take a look at the valve seals and everything while its out. Thanks for the input
