Every single manufacture I have ever seen, heard, read about ALL their manual trannys are

weak to a certain HP. Then from there are drag breed autos. Just for insight, take a look at

all top fuel cars they are all automatics. Build a automatic and be done with your story.

Chris.

whilst I agree that for big power an auto is the way to go, thats not the reason why drag cars use them.
Auto's are used for consistency, which is what drag racing is all about. not just speed.

I agree, the auto tranny removes the human element of inconsistency and potential error.

and a manual more fun to drive

Well this is a given. Common sense in my own opinion. The main reason IS to

hold the power.

what we've been known to do before with gtirs is use an uprated 3rd gear on a standard gearset on some road car boxes we've put togther. The company that makes the uprated gears likes to pretend its not possible to fit their gears on standard shafts, obviously this is complete bs, especially as they dont make a mainshaft with their full gearset, maybe you should look into doing similar.

This has solved the problem with stripping 3rd, just have to be careful when launching.

personally, on a high power car, im of the opinion its best to bin all the nissan parts and get a full gearset, people spend thousands on engine builds and then bolt a standard gearbox to it and moan about it when it breaks. The only problem we have had with full ppg gearsets is the case failing taking the geaset with it, its a viscious circle tbh, you have to eliminate all the weak points which takes time and money.

Alot of the gtir guys that dont want to end up with a gearbox thats worth more than their car just swap trannies like service items..lol

good luck.

not sure what the usd price is for you guys tbh

heres my box, ppg dogset, sc final drive, billet 3/4 fork, custom made cuff, cryo'd case.

PPG dont list a fwd gearset unfortunately, just rwd and gtir, but i'd imagine it could be used in a fwd application that normally uses the same rs5f50a gearset that the gtir does. Not sure what sentras come with, i know the rs5f50a is used in Altima, Axxess, Maxima, Pulsar, Stanza and Infinity's.

You obviously have no clue how well the boost per MPH function works when dialed in right. All the fastest SFWD cars are tuned in this way. Just because you don't put down all the power at once does not mean that the car is going to be slower..... in actuality it makes it faster.

A car that making 600 whp that is set up right can be killer fast with a properly dialed boost per MPH function. Not only does this function assist with wheel spin and what not it will also help with how the tq is introduced to the drive train.

Also remember it does not take a lot of power to break our trannys.

that is BADASS! does the cuff eliminate 5th gear? i dont see why it wouldnt fit in a fwd box. i contacted ppg to see the US cost of the set. could you make a cuff for a b15 trans?
