Video of a T25 turbo. Advice needed.
I bought a W10 motor about a month ago from I got from a forum vendor. When I got the motor I found the turbo would not spin at all, so I took off the J-pipe and put a ratchet on it and loosened it up a bit. It was still pretty stiff at that point, almost difficult to spin by hand, so I left it alone until yesterday. Per the instructions of a local turbo guy, I went ahead and put PB Blaster in the turbo in oil inlet and plugged up the oil return. Now the turbo spins pretty good.

This is my first turbo setup, so I'm still learning whats good and whats bad.
I'm hoping some of the experts can give me an opinion on this and whether I should use this turbo. It has no shaft play.

Here it is:

at first i would have said the turbo sounded like it was siezed up, then you said it spins decently freely, but how freely is it spinning, it should spin with ease and no tension shouldnt be hard to spin at all

When I first got the turbo, it would not move without using a ratchet. The video is after putting PB Blaster in it and I am spinning it. It will spin for about a second after I let go of the shaft.

I'd run it and hope for the best. It seems like it would probably be just fine.

not being able to move the shaft even with a ratchet isnt good. even tho it does move i would still be a little worriedsome, it doesnt to be seem like its moving smoothly like it should but thats just me.

Well my other option is a replacement turbo I received from the vender, but it looks like the fins hit the compressor housing and it has moderate shaft play (side to side) but does not touch the sides.

the fins arent damaged right? with turbos you may see some shaft play becuase there isnt oil in the turbo to stiffen it up, as long as its not excessive, it should be fine, a little play is normal

A couple of the fins have some damage.

I have one that I need to put pressure on to spin. Dre said it will loosen up and spin freely once it gets some oil and heat running through it.

I'm confident the turbo will be fine. The vendor will send me another turbo or rebuild it if I have a problem with it.
