Thread: what plug gap / boost psi are you running?

i was curious as to what everyone was running as far as plug gap and boost psi, and what gap they are seeing a hesitation or miss...reason i ask is becuase i decided after my tune i would regap my new bkr7e's from the recomended .27 thus far i have gotten to .40 without a hesitation miss or any ill effects at 18psi

im running basicly a stock ignition system with the exception of the ngk blue spark plug wires.

just wondered what everyone else was running thought it was kinda odd i got that high without a problem..guess thats a good thing

bkr7 here at 0.70 mm 18lbs complete stock setup and 600hp

I have run .032 easy and didn't start to cut out until over 20psi of boost. 22psi was the most she could do with copper cores, Iridiums were able to hold over 24psi on the same gap!

.28 @ 18-20 psi of boost. Anything more especially if cold outside and it will break up.

.22 on bkr7e's at 28psi plus before. right now i run 19-20psi daily and 24psi on race gas.

While i was at the dyno i had my plugs roughly at .30 and i was not getting ignition misfire until 22psi. So i gapped them down and they should be good to well over 30psi of boost at that gap even on the stock ignition.

Jesus, you guys are running some massive gaps. Everyone but jpsr20det is almost a quarter of an inch?!






I'm at 0.028" for 11 psi (might as well be 15 psi). Had trouble with blowout when they were gapped to 0.035" or so by accident.

Edit: I forgot to mention I am running Honda motorcycle COP coils and stand-alone EMS with ignition dwell control, so not exactly stock.

I also have to keep mine at .028 anywhere over 10psi to avoid blowout. (bkr7e)

7's at .030, 11psi of boost.

anyone else that run a larger gap that their idle seems to be smoother, it seemed with my setup the idle became alot more smoothe with a larger gap verse a smaller gap also seemed more steady
