Help! GTi-R swapped b14! No Spark!
SO! I bought a GTi-R swapped b14 (96 SE-R)a few weeks ago and it ran pretty fine. One day it decided it didn't want to start so I decided to check the plugs (they didn't look too nice) so I decided to wait until I got home to change them but then I looked at the gauge and it was pretty close to "E". I put some gas from work in, tried to start it about two more times and it started although im pretty sure that wasn't the problem considering I had fuel pressure. YAY! for now. Changed the plugs the next day and it never gave a problem until two days ago. Had to start the car four times for the day and was not disappointed until the fourth. It cranked over but it did not even seem like it even wanted to begin to start, the RPM did not go up or down just stays at zero and its a solid crank. Next day I popped off the cap and there was alot of corrosion so I had wifey change the cap and try again. The weird thing that happened the night before was that the fuel level gauge went to half then back to 1/4 like it originally was really slowly. I put the plugs on the wires outside of the engine and had someone crank it over NO SPARK.

Anyone have any idea on what voltages I should be getting at the dizzy connectors, a way to test it, or the computer? The cap is new, rotor is not (Thanks to Autozone and their disfigured, barely-fitting parts). I have fuel pressure and the car never bogged under boost. None of the plugs fire, the wires aren't pretty but all will not go bad at the same time without a miss. New plugs are on the way. It's a calum ECU and its a stock setup minus the fmic. Car runs fine never missed never bogged or missed under boost, nothing funny besides the funky start-up a while back and the one now. It had a few codes but I over looked them since it's a modded ECU and a different engine should I have taken these into consideration?

Thanks for reading all that any help/input will be appreciated!

Check your grounds and also the maf. Maybe the ignitor? Keep us updated.

What voltage should I be getting from the MAF, Ignitor and at the ECU? I can't seem to find this info in the search... the car is not even at my house I have to be sure before I do anything what a PITA

I had a similar problem with my gtir swapped b15, one day I tried to crank it and I got nothing at all...so I wired a push button start but I still have the same problem as you...Sometimes when its cold and I crank it I have to turn it over a few time. other times it will crank up on first time..although when I first crank it...I have to be careful because if I give it too much gas it dies.

Well I'm still sure that I have no spark and the fuel pressure goes to 40 psi in the on position then during cranking it slowly drops to 15-20 psi however the father in law decided to try starter fluid? or something like that and the car actually sounds like it wants to start now. Took off the fuel line and cranked it the first time and got no fuel the second time however he got a face full of it. I'm gonna check the ECU grounds today. At the six pin plug on the dizzy, how many volts should I be getting from each pin?? Mike did you ever figure out what the problem was?

no lol. I had a fried distributor cap that actually melted the coil wire into the distributor, my guess is 2 things the tps sensor..or the fuel pump, what kind of fuel pump u have? for some reason it just sounds like you need a new full pump.

My car works now just a pain to start but honestly I think my injectors need cleaning, that all which could be your problem...buy judging by what you saying it sounds like the fuel pump..also never run a car low on gas that will cause your fuel pump to overheat and go out...I had to replace many fuel pumps for people and everytime it happens its because they almost ran the car outta gas...thats especially true with a walbro.

I honestly don't know I was going to swap it out for a walbro anyway but the car had a quarter tank since it didn't want to start. The spark plugs also had a little fuel on them after a cranking for a while, they were not drenched. I think I figured it out what it is though...
