There are a lot of air/water setups on track cars, but it isn't nearly as conventional. People love their air/air units because they look cool and are cheap and easy.

A proper air/water setup will outperform a air/air when properly engineered, and the heat exchanger should be big enough to remove any heat extracted from the IC core.

I wonder what the capacity of the air/water setup is on these other track cars that utilize them. I can see some big benefits, but serious downfalls of these setups.

I would like to see how hot the temps on a good setup would get.

After read info and the opinions here, I think I am going to do the a/w setup again. a 2-3 gallon cell w/ antifreeze(maybe some water wetter included), jabsco pump and a large heat exchanger w/ fan should be just fine for what I am using it for, plus I can add ice for extra insurance if I ever decide to do the track.

I can only point you here for a good read: Fusion Intercooler

Alot of manufacturers use them.

And if you dont think circuit racers DO NOT use them, the celica gt-fours (2nd gen RC and Carlos Sainz edition) as well as the gen 3 GT-fours (and I think the Group A/works corolla) used them in thier works cars for rallying for something like 5-7 years (atleast 5 for sure). So if properly engineered, a/w setups are (in some cases) almost 100% efficient (if the water/liquid/working fluid is kept at proper temperature)

The issue I do see (sans post above mine) about the a/w setup, is the added weight (as you have to add pump, heat exchanger, lines, reservoir, and a few other things) in order to have a proper working system.

And then when all said and done, you have to find somewhere to put all that stuff..........It becomes expensive, cumbersome and time consumption to get one up and running correctly for daily applications

See my drift??
