Jen, you got 2 cars. Why not just drive the B13 for now?

I actually found out why mine was burning oil Bad CHRA lol. I got a new on on the new setup and it doesn't smoke at all.

He's been using the stock feed/return lines off of a GTiR setup, just so everyone knows. Turbo has not been re-clocked since pulled from the GTiR, so the return is in the correct position. Pretty sure it's a seal problem that's been plaguing him. Also mentioned to him that he REALLY needs to pull the timing cover and verify mechanical timing. I have a VERY strong feeling that his mechanical timing is off 1/2 link on the crank, which is causing the motor to fall on it's face above 5Krpm, as well as his dizzy being clocked all the way to the radiator. If he has the dizzy straight up, ign. timing is at 4 degrees.

it is one tooth off lol.

I don't know why I didn't think about it at first, when he told me about the dizzy issue and the car falling on it's face up high in the RPM's.

When he initially took pictures and sent them to me (of the cam gears), the links were oddly set up. Intake was 2.5 links off, and exhaust was like 3.5 links off. Meaning the teeth were in between actual links, and not centered on a link.

He corrected that and the car ran better, but still not as it should. Only thing left that I could think of, is that the crank is off. (and not by one whole link, but by 1/2 link.) If it were one entire link off (one whole tooth) timing would be WAY off, and he wouldn't be able to even get 15 degrees ignition timing with dizzy clocked all the way to the radiator.

yep took the turbo apart and didnt see any oil anywhere. but upon further inspection i took a flashlight and looked inside the exhaust side turbine and there was oil all up in there. Guess it was just burning off to quickly and didnt coat anything... either way i know my oil seal took a s hit. and the timing issue should be resolved soon. either way turbo will be put back on sometime in a month or 2. to lazy to put everything back on.. im saving up for a front mount also...

QUESTION. do i still need to put 93 gas in my car with the NA set up on the 8.5 motor???

Jen36, as far as I know you only need 91 and above if you're running more than 17* NA, but with the 8.5 motor, that may change, I have no idea, but I don't think it should.

Glad you found your gremlin. Keep us posted, this thread is preparing me for when I decide to go turbo (which won't be for another few years, definitely not before I get a newer daily than my B13).
