Have you thought about rebuilding it yourself?
As long as the wheels or housings aren't damaged, a rebuild kit is going to run you about $90 and all you have to worry about is NOT damaging your turbo wheels and making sure you put them back together the same or else you'll have to get it balanced.

welp its been a while since i updated anything. my motor blew a HG bout a month and a half ago took it apart and the walls were all jacked up so i had to get another DET. I got a engine from another forum member and blew the HG in about 3 weeks lol. This time i took it apart and it was ok. Put a VE HG on with egle headstuds... it sat for about 2 weeks after that because it did not run right(still does not but its better) everything was just going wrong. I was pretty much getting to the point of putting it up for sale on the board. There was alot of things going on with my life and so much stress that i just wanted to sell the car. GF issues, roomate issues family issues finacial issues you name it it was going on.. But thanks to pratically my second brother tekkie and basically my second dad DC scotty talked me out of it. There just so much going on its cray. life comes at you fast.....

so far i have notice a couple of things. First off. i checked the turbo out. took it all apart so i can see the turbine side and the intake side. bearly any shaft play. no oil on the exhaust side. guess the plot thickens.. i was thinking that the exhaust side seal went out and was letting oil by but its bone dry unless its so small of a amount that its not coating anything. Im lost for words of why it smokes. its pissing me off !!

second. As you know the car has not been running right at all since the HG swap. My timing and machanicle timing (dont worry i didnt drive the car just idle) was off my idle was off everything is off. it was running hot. My nismo AFPR broke in half. The car was just hell. I had to run the stock FPR just to get it to run (running 4bar program) I was just so done with this car. But again thanks to forum members i was able to get it some what better. Joel Fixed my machanicle timing in like 15 minutes(thanks joel you the man). But we could not get the car to go into timing mode to set base timing if it depended on our lives!! we tried and tried but couldnt get it. So we just put the dizzy in the middle and called it a day. Either way i was able to drive it around to and from work. But i didnt have power past 3k and all it did was backfire so i drove like a grama. Tekkie sent me another Nismo AFPR free of charge. just had to pay shipping and he over night it. Put that on and it helped out alot. still didnt have power past 4k now but it ran better.

third. After the HG swap it still felt like the motor was running hot so i FINALLY bought a after market autometer temp gauge. It ran at around 185 190 which is very cool. Cooler then what i thought it was running with a turbo nx and running a top mount. But i notice that as soon as i kept it at idle for no more then 5 minute it would rocket to 210.(the fans do come on) I started to suspect something was wrong because the hot side coolant hose was fat and was full of pressure. there was a small gap that was letting the air out and it sounded like a steamer going off lol... I suspected the thermostat was bad and talking to other forum members via phone agreed, so today i took the thermostat out and sure enough it was stuck open but bearly. it was open enough to let a little water in but not enought to let it realive pressure. So i took it out and im going to run without one for a day or so to make sure that was the problem. I mean im sure that was the problem for the simple fact that i threw the old thermostat in boiling water and it didnt do s hit.

All in all it seems to be running a little bit better everyday but im still not getting power. it slow as balls. Hell my friends lancer kept up with me and he had 3 people in his car!! yeah that slow. Im waiting on Scotty to come down and tune this b itch! Everytime he comes down i get at least 60 more horsepower lol. I belive once my timing and idle is done correctly i will gain alot more. Once that is done i can safely drive it to to my street tunner(scotty and bill) and throw the wide band in and run it and adjust my fuel maps and everything and that will gain me even more HP.. i should be fine. im crossing my fingers that the worse is behind me....

thanks for reading guys. sorry for the bad spelling and grammer english was never my best subject

edit. i just rechecked the thermostat and it opens and closes properly now. wtf. the stat was stuck open when i took it out and stayed like that. after a couple of hours of it sitting i notice that i was close so i took a heat gun to it and it opend up. now i know when i took it off the car that the temp of that water was no were near 50 degrees or so because it sat for a couple of hours so it should have not been open when i took it out.. hmmm. im still not putting it back in and plan on running without one to see if the ballon effect goes away

It's all about the baby steps . You'll get it there, it's always the small shiit that plagues a turbo build. They take longer to diagnose, but once you've sorted them out, you've got a car as reliable as anything else

You had a tough time with boost for sure Tekk but seriously he's got a pretty cursed build. Luckily there's guys like you/Scotty and co.

Jensen did you do any skimming at all when you did HG? Aluminum especially tends to warp when blowing HG. Additionally the SR is pretty sensitive to that type of stuff so it won't take a lot of skimming/decking like a belt driven motor can. That could also explain the timing issue. Just thinking out loud. A few years back I had a similar head gasket problem where it was doing the repeater on me.

well this is 2 diffrent motors. talked to miko and he said that he rarely mills down the head and deck the block to make it work from a blown HG unless it was like a special build he was doing or whatever. he said just throw the ve HG in and call it a day. but my timing issues are from taking my dizzy and cams out liie 50 times lol. i could never put it in timing mode to begin with. i have only done it once!
