yeah he is a noob

it's either ring/valve seals, or magically 2 turbos with bad seals

u guys sure have alnt of s hit to say bout me beinp a noob knowing damn well some of u have to double check with me to get a second opinion. n e ways its oil im burning. its not the turbo there is no sign of oil anywere. also james i told u that i was leaking oil from somewere around the turbo i just cant tell were until i take the it off and check the lines and stuff. that alone is making my oil level fall also. im going to prob take the manifold and turbo off to c were the oil is comming from. but it makes no sence that the car would not smoke for a couple of days after the turbo change and then come.

also can we post more info and less bs on the thread i kno i personally kno alot of u guys but this prob is annoying and would like to the thread get seriouse

Jen you know I'm only teasin' ya

And to update this thread with information, and not senseless dribble:

Spoke with my friend that owns a performance shop (the guy I'm helping with dyno issues), and he says he's 99% positive that it's the exhaust valve seals. I told him about the symptoms, and he immediately said valve seals, before I could ask him

So, machine shop to replace valve seals. May as well do them all, and upgrade springs/retainers and valves. Won't cost you any more money, other than buying the valves and springs/retainers, unless you oversize the valves (which isn't necessary)

tekkie, can he just slap another DET head on and call it a day?

Mine burns oil. Figured the rings are pretty tired from the gobs of detonation this motor has seen

I have also thought that the exhaust valve guides because I have zero oil contamination on plugs.

Sure, why not? Question is, what is the condition of that DET head? Secondly, he'll need to get new headstuds in either case, so he should be set there.

The head is mine, my motor never blew smoke AT ALL, it's just the block, and the fist sized holes I through through them

so I'm 99.999999999% sure the head is fine, unless something happened when I through the two rods, but I took off the valve cover, everything seems cool, we can investigate more whenever I separate the head from the block

Well one thing you have to worry about with throwing rods, is that ring lands or rings could have broken off/cracked at the same time, and MAY have done carnage to the head.

You'll need to pull it to be sure.

Also i didnt see anyone mention anything about an oil line size or if he is running a restrictor. The turbo could possibly be getting over oiled if you will and be forcing some oil past the seals, in this case if it hasnt been happening for too long the turbo could be ok. The oil line size may need to be adjusted, and or add an oil line rest.

If this has not been done it may be worth a try before you go ahead and tear the engine down.

Also make sure there are no obstructions in the oil drain line or any of the fittings, also check to make sure the drain hose isnt kinked.

Just my .02

Well noted, but checked. Jen is using the lines that came with the turbo, that were on Theo's GTI-R. Theo had zero issues with that setup on his car, when it was pulled off.
