so i got my car retuned for the 3rd time
so i made the plungew for the 3rd time and had my car retuned, the first time i had my car tuned it was more so to get the aem enms up and running gewtting it to idle, air fuels in order/ driveability, anyone who knowsd aem ems whos the setting up of the ems is basicly building a full map from ground up so the first tune wasnt so much for power but for a platform to build on. thasty tune made 207whp and 205wtq @ 7lbs, VERY rough tune wasnt tapping into its potential at all

the 2nd tune my distributor went out and i took it to my shop and had them look at it and they fixed it and said the tune really needed to be cleaned up and wanted to get the air fuels in better roder for more power and more boost at the same 7lbs with a cleaner tune the car made 224whp / 220wtq with the same tune they rerouted my vacyuum lines from the wastegate to the turbo and put it from the weastegate to the manifold and got a extra 3lbs of boost the car made on 10lbs 245whp / 235wtq they slightly cleaned up the top end

for the 3rd tiume i really wanted to go for the gusto altho the turbo is capable of much more psi i wanted a conservative 18lbs of boost and a much more aggressive yet conservative air fuel map.

well the tune didnt go all thaty smoothely between trying to get a run in and get the intercooler piping back on it really ate up my dyno time, which was kinda upsetting considering i was paying 200 a hour for the tuning, having the smaller stock ga16 radiator it kept wanting to overheat, the idle screw nut over time came loose and the throttle bost kewpt getting stuck at a high idle, basicly it was a pain in the ass having it redone.

i did alot of preperation in order to have it retuned, but i guess it just wasnt enough or i overlooked it.

i got EVERYTHING situated now and the car runs idles, and drives perfectly its extremely fast.

i love the aem ems, its extremely effective in finding issues with the motor as its constantly monitoring everything so if anything is wrong its easy to get to the problem quickly. as far as tuning the software is very powerful and extremely efficent in the right hands.

but having a lesson learned anyone who is interrested in going with the aem ems, have it tuned to the max psi you want from the begininng then have a boost controller to turn the boost up and down as you please.

i wish i would have had it tuned like that from the beginnnig it wouldf have saved me about 700... so far on tuning ive spent around 1600.00 but it has been a gradual platform to be building off of... all in all i think its worth it tho

$1600 in tuning I paid $100 for an hr of dyno time and pulled off a head so my buddy would tune the car for free. I thought that was expensive lol I guess it helps to have a friend with tuning skills, a shop, and a turbo se-r

I pay about 100 an hour and I have everything cleaned up ready so when I roll in I can get 3-4 pulls and dial things in clean. Your shop isn't cool if they charge you for down time between runs, that is harsh.
