What holds someone back from making a lowport head flow more than a VE or any of the others?

there are some really good companies that could get you more flow than VE..but even if you get the head reworked for more cfm flow you are going to need the valve job, springs, retianers, camshaft lift to actually make the more cfm flow efficent...

i guess part of having the ve head though is for the VVL though right?

Ya, from what I hear it cost lots of cash to get it done right, plus someone can actually make it flow less if they don't know what they are doing to that head, and what... maybe 12+hp, most people that find this out will seek other ways to get HP!!

Dang............^.........What all do you think fred casey is doing? His DET smokes all VET's that I know of, but I did remember hearing at very knowledgeable forum member in one of fred's threads say. A VE head will out flow a DE head at X amount of power over a certain HP level.......This is not a direct quote, I will have to find the post on the old forum.....I think the number was close to 100hp's though.........

Mazworc does some great port work for 1100 which does not indlude the new valves and guides you need. But they are also working with a VE head right now and have said that is is an awesome head design. If you look at the Mazworx CNC head and the VE stock head, the VE still looks better. Its just the whole basic design.

I have honda friends that make 440whp on gt28rs because honda heads are like wow. Its like putting a great suspension on the b13, it still wont handle as good as a cvic with good suspension, just fundamental design differences.

The high port can flow better because of the design, straight through. The low port is more of a curve and becomes much more restrictive with higher power levels. Thats the reason big tema use the high port for their drag cars, soon to use ve head by one of em.

1100.00 isnt bad at all. personally if i was shooting for 550+ i would invest in either some good headwrok for the lowport or get a highport and invest in some great portwork, either way, if you are building up the head port work wont hurt

I agree but with the way everyone is talking it sounds worth it to take a stock VE head and drop it on there...
