Thread: MAF placement on blow through

Yeah the bolt holes you can cut off and just mount a coupler if you do it carefully. Ontop (or side depends how you look at it) of the thing there is a square element with a square rubber gasket. Its the part that the connector plugs into. Air leaks out of there on blow through set-ups.



It sucks that I can never go to the convention. I guess I'll just duct tape my mafs from now on.

did you mean draw through? It looks like there's a recirc hose coming off the maf and going to the valve cover. I thought you couldn't put your maf before the turbo on blow through?

How do I epoxy that hole on the maf? does the plug pop out or something?

Here's the thing; If you don't know then its time to stop typing. That's what people should do when they don't know. I'll say it again for people in the cheap seats; There's no reason you can't recirc a blow through setup.

Ok that wasn't entirely cool. I shouldn't flame noobs its against my nature. All my setup has is the bov/recirc on the cold side (after the intercooler) before the maf. It ventilates into a hose that runs to the intake pipe. Runs much better. A few people have driven it both ways and they agree.

my feelings arent hurt trust me I just think the way you have it setup is different and not needed for this guy to have a good running car. So I tried to help him keep it simple and make his install easy. Not really a noob just never saw it ran like that and was confused

Well, #1 - The picture I posted isn't my setup, it was just an example.
#2 - Yeah I would like my setup to be easy. This is my first turbo build and I'm still learning a lot. I was thinking I'd put the bov after the intercooler and let it blow off to the atmosphere, and I was gonna put the maf after that in between the intake and bov. will this work?

On the maf - do I take the screws out for the plug, then epoxy all in there and stick the plug back on?

Yes your fine that way and that's how mine is setup. I think they are talking about the big square on top is what leaks. Might be both not totally sure.

This one shows my cohort and the location of my DSM recirc valve. I ended up going with a black plastic flexible hose from a vacuum cleaner on the wall back there.


The air intake I fabbed and the new hose. I'll have to fab up and weld a brace or something. Zip ties ftw. You can kinda see where the black hose recirculates to a bung. Not a good pic. Its really quiet.


And one because my rig is a tight sleeper. New suspension, cams and tuning later this year.
