Thread: HX30 on a KA24E

So I'm addicted to boost, and my D21 Hardbody isn't quite fast enough (torquey though). My goal is to run a low boost setup that spools decently fast but not as fast as my T28 would on a KA24E. The motor is all stock, and I am hoping to get another 75-100 hp out of it. I think the HX30 would be the cheapest and easiest turbo to accomplish this. Is my goal outlandish because I only want to run like 7 or 8 psi of boost to keep it reliable.

This turbo with the 9 or 12 cm2 (open scroll) turbine housing will do 300hp no probs with a very good spool-up depending on the turbine side at 7-9 lbs it will get you at 210-20 whp no probs.

What turbo would get me to 300hp keeping it around 8psi?

Check out ka-t.org. Those guys are beasts. I think you can bolt up a DOHC KA24DE from a frontier. Maybe you can just swap the head. Maybe it doesn't matter. Some basic prep out of car (headgasket + arp studs + gut the intake mani) and you should be able to make 250 whp pretty easy.

Also... 300 hp in a little truck? Might want to try mid 200s first and go from there...

Why do you want to boost it? I'm assuming this is your never-fail-haul-things-and-drive-in-case-my-SER-goes-boom truck. If it is I would just leave it stock. Maybe use NOS if you want to scare the pants off someone every now and then.

You are correct sir. It is a very depndable truck but it needs more top end power. I'll just go with the HX30 and run it on low boost. I can't leave anything stock...

I think you shoud start easy and with the hx30... just get a right turbine housing
at 15lbs it will do 300whp no probs at all .for low boost and the hp you are target a hx35 will get you there at aprox 9-11lbs but at expence of 300-400 rpm of spool

Anyone know what the HX30 comes off of? I'm guessing some sort of Dodge diesel truck but which one and what year?

There are diff vertions of this turbo ... whar are the measurments? inducer exducer etc....

It's a cummings turbo diesel motor that it comes from. There is a lot of info about these turbos out there. The cummings site, e30tech, ka-t.org all have good info on these turbos.

I find a bunch of crap about HX35's but not the HX30.
