What size tires are you guys running for the best grip?
Should I stay with the 15's or go with the wide 17's?
Please post Input......

What brand/model of tire are you using? Quality of tire will make more difference than size.

If you stay with 15" and have a B14 go with a 225/45/15 tire size. Toyo has the Proxes RA1 in that size and is coming out with the Proxes R1R in the same size soon. Hankook has the Ventus RS2's out in that size.

x2 very true statement, i would take quality smaller tires over not to quality larger size say 14s with quality tires verse 16 with not so quality

I was running the Fuzion ZRi's.....I'm gonna stay with the 15's for now. I'm thinkin some Azenis are the best bang for the buck on performance. 205/50 is fine. I'm still open to suggestions though.

So far I have had pretty good luck with 215/45/16 Ventus RS2...

The RS2's ride decent and when they spin they tend to hook up shortly after if you attempt to control the spinning... but if you lay on the power haphazardly the tires get a bit gummy /greasy and need to cool down a bit. I'm thinking of an autoX in the heat, on the street they should be fine. Generally, they are more available than the Azenis as thats how I ended up trying them out when my azenis were gone.

On the street, they have been one of the best tires for the money I have used on it but I commonly change tires out every 6-7K miles. The azenis feel different but on the street I prefer the RS2 for the ride and in case I get caught in the rain.

I have excellent grip with the Proxes 4's, from Toyo. The only obvious downside to a stickier tire, is the treadwear also decreases. If you're looking for longevity, you need to look for anything with a treadwear rating over 300, IMO. 280 is what the Proxes 4's are rated at, and it shows.

The Proxes 4 have a treadwear of 300. You must be thinking of the Proxes T1R which have a treadwear of 280 and are in a totally different class.

The Proxes 4 are All Season tires. The T1R is a Summer tire. I have had both and the T1R is much better than the Proxes 4 on dry AND wet roads (I was in Houston when tropical storm Erin hit and the T1R's were amazing).
