The best part about a turbo auto is that you do not get out of boost! The worst part is that it robs power. Like budsang said. When I switched to a 5spd, I HAD to have gained 10-15% more power.

Nissan doesn't make the strongest transmissions, but you could look into a performance shift kit to get more fluid into the trans. Of course, if you've never done anything to the trans (changed fluid, etc), it's best to just go with it until it blows (don't change fluids, change parts, etc).

I used to manually shift the crap out of mine, and loved it, but was always waiting for it to go, as it was inevitable.

I plan to run it with a tranny oil cooler.

shoud be good for long runs and highway driving right?

I remember way back when on the old forum that the overseas guys said the CVT tranny couldn't even take the power of a stock VE (let alone a turbo one). At least that's what I remember reading.

The P11's CVT is too weak to handle that kind of torque, and would disintegrate quickly. Nissan rate the towing capacity at only 500kg's, which is telling. They already have a trans cooler fitted standard, but it's not heat that's the problem, it's simply the strength of the drive chain. If you can find a later Xtronic CVT out of something heavier (e.g. a Maxima, or 2.5L P12) then that would handle the torque without trouble, but you might need to make an adapter plate to suit it.

The other thing to consider is that a T25 is too small for a VE.

I just wanted to add, I used a tranny oil cooler as well, and it still failed

I would love to do this to a P11, aren't the auto trannys still stronger then the older ones like the manuals?

btw, my bro has a p11 auto w/ lsd for sale. recently rebuilt wth transgo clutch pack, new solenoid group, and transgo performance shift kit. If you add a high volume trans cooler, and possibly a phantom grip lsd (if you want), you would have possibly the strongest stock fwd trans nissan made. might want to upgrade the torque converter as well.
