Holy crap! You drove? I didn't think you'd be awake at all

I have that other 8CW crank at the house, just doesn't do me any good right now. I've got my fingers crossed that the crank and bearings are all still good. They didn't really starve completely of oil, just didn't get enough oil pressure. We'll see when we pull the motor up there on Saturday. I know that oil squirter hasn't been pulled off of any of the busted ass motors up there.

Bumping this back from the dead.

I went out this morning to look at my spare DE block that will be Jensen's when I move, and attempted to pull out the chain oil squirter. It's TIGHT, but not so tight that I couldn't pull it out with vise grips. To put it back in, I had to use a rubber mallot and give it a good ten blows to sit all the way in the port.

This is a good sign, or a very bad sign. If that came out of the block without pulling it out, then either the block expanded enough with the heat of the oil, that it shot right out. I'm thinking it was slow to come out though, otherwise with 100 psi of oil it surely would have done some damage to the oil pump/timing cover.

I imagine that within the next three months I'll have the car back in my posession and at Jen's shop so I can work on it after I'm off in the evenings. I haven't decided if I'm going to pull the whole motor out, now. I may just have to depending on how tight the area's going to be where I need to use a mallot and "press" the squirter back in.

Yeah, shiit happens. At least I didn't grenade the motor. Would have been a pretty penny to replace all the forged internals... =/

Best part about it I think is that I caught it early enough that no long term damage was evident. Bearings from what I saw looked fine.

only happens on freak motors. This also happened on lance's car idk why but it did and its definitely weird.

Alex,

I'm really thinking that it had to do with oil temps. With oil at higher temperatures like they were, the block was likely able to relax a tad bit from the heat, and the added pressure of the VE pump at full load helped to push it out over time.

So when your chain squirter came out, you just lost all oil pressure or some of it? I have a lot of miles on my build now and I am hoping something like this don't happen. But if it does it would only take a day or so to fix hopefully.

I lost most of my oil pressure. It happened some time during the drive home from the convention. I noticed that under partial load (around 70mph) that my oil pressure was only at around 35~45psi. At idle it dropped to around 10psi.

I'll take a picture showing why the oil pressure dropped so much, tonight.
