The oil seemed to be dissapearing but to where he doesn't know is what he is saying. He filled it up and before it was at my house it was full when i checked it. He had a 5 quart bottle and he basically used that whole thing on the way home. The car was never really low on oil but as soon as it started knocking the oil pressure was down between 0 and 25. I hope everything is okay with the crank because he has put a lot of time and money into this car and I could tell he was upset about it.

yeah i would be also, check your intercooler piping on the hot side and see if its oily. Its going somwhere, and if it wasnt smoking or getting everywhere under the car its a good possibility that thats where it was going. Again sorry to hear about that, i would be pissed. Just like when i get done with this build im gonna be scared to even go up into the 20psi range just cuz there is that what if but i know the motor will be built well enough for it to take it all day long.

Hope everything is good with the crank and rod Id hate to have to see it come apart again to do it over again.

Was just kinda pissed about it because I'm tired of driving rental cars. If I have to spend money on the car, no big deal. Shiit happens. Just not sure wtf happened to the oil. The turbo is brand new, looks great, no shaft play, no signs of blown seals (restrictor used).

Just doesn't explain where the fukking oil's going. When the car is parked, there's no leaking. VERY odd.

It has nothing to do with mobil 10x-30.

It is very simple the motor is burning oil. Its just a matter of where is it going.

Bad rings, bad valve seals, bad PCV valve. I have seen some bad PCV valves allow high oil burning. Also is there a restirctor in the valve cover to vent.

I am using 0W-20 in my car and I dont loose any oil.

Now, not so much

Not even 30 miles from the hotel here in NJ, the car developed that wonderful marble throwing sound as I took two 180 degree turns into the EZPass toll booth. I limped it to Morgans432's house, and we're trailering it up to the shop Saturday morning to rip the bottom end off and see what we can see.

Apparently our motors don't like prolonged periods of 4500rpm stretches. I don't know WTF is happening to all the oil, either. No dripping on the ground, not burning any oil at least visibly.

Never using 10w30 again, and DEFINITELY not Mobil. That crap does NOT last on long stretches like 840 mile cruises.

Oh, and so everyone remembers, VE Oil Pump, ACL race bearings, the whole nine. I hope the crank isn't scored at all. More to follow.

OH NOOOO!!!!!! Sorry to hear that tek. Hopefully it isn't an expensive fix. Let us know what you guys find.

Well I never noticed it burning oil before the o2 induction manifold was installed... Then again, I never went on 800+ mile roadtrips one way.

Rings should be fine, valve seals are still stock. Only thing I didn't replace on the head PCV valve is new, makes noise when you shake it, only blows one way. Catch can did fill up rather quickly, but not ALL the way.

The only reason I blamed it on the 30 weight was because of the LOOOONG drive where I kept the motor above 4Krpm in 5th gear. If I had chilled around 60mph or so, the drive would have taken HOURS longer. I wouldn't have been able to put up with it. I'm sure a thicker viscosity could have at least prolonged this another 30 minutes, in which case I would have been at the hotel already. In hindsight, I would have checked the oil twice as often as I did. I stopped in VA at my mom's house and added about a quart. I figured I was only 4 hours away from the hotel on a 12 hour trip, so I would make it just fine, then do an oil change when I got back. Didn't last...

Thanks man, I'm hoping so too. Alex was draining the oil last I checked, so I'll see what he has to say about it.

Damn Tek, that's lame. At least it waited until you were home safely before it broke.

No kiddin!

As a matter of fact, that little "joy ride" we went on jacked up the radiator! The hot side piping rubbed a hole in the modine. Ended up buying one (fortunately) locally there in Savannah, brand new. You probably remember this, and I don't so whatever

So far, just a few specs of metal were picked up by a magnet in the oil that was drained, and the valve cover was pulled (and still looks pristine.)

Alex is going to drop the oil pan and see if there's anything else to be found. Oil is said to be milky in texture, but not in color. No smells like gas mixed, or coolant. No colorations like copper, etc. either. Oil just broke down in one weekend's time. VERY strange.

Well ladies and gents I have found something in the treasure chest of oil haha. I dropped the pan and I found a metal object of some sort and I sent the pics to tekkie, I will put them up here so if anyonce can identify it let me know. It def was getting thrown around in the engine with the marks it has on it.
