tial wastegate question
I purchased a used 44mm wastegate, but Im unable to clamp it onto my manifold. It looks like the valve seat is sticking too far out.

Here's a pic of the wastegate inlet:

Do you think that I need to replace the valve seat? What can I do to get the wastegate to fit the manifold?

TIA

That ring should seat flush. (Edit: I was wrong, see pics below) On new units it is loose. It will fall out with just gravity pulling down on it. They are not a tight fit when new. Maybe after some use you've got some expansion?
If you try and press it down some, does it go in easily? Maybe you just didn't try because you didn't want to break something? I would push on it some to see if it will seat itself.

Pics of TiAL brand new out of the box

on a welded and surfaced TiAL flange

What does the flange on your manifold look like? Any burrs or warped?

Looks exactly like my unit did, out of the box. Did you get a TiAL flange with it? Or are you trying to mount it to a TiAL flange you already have welded onto your manifold?

I'm trying to mount it to the flange I already have on the manifold, give me a sec and I'll take pics of the flange on the manifold

Could be that the flange design did in fact change? I had heard something about this before like mentioned above, but don't have any hard evidence to prove it.

Well both the manifold and the wastegate are used(no not with each other). I tried to take some pics with my phone, but the pics suck...so I'll have to wait until the batteries in my camera are recharged to take some pics.
