Manifold differences...
RE: http://www.sr20-forum.com/forced-induction/15175-o2-induction-manifold-highport-engines-2.html#post204285...

I don't want to clutter that thread above with questions. I haven't seen any stock highport motors, really, so that's why I'm asking.

If say I were to relocate the CTS sensor, and the idiot temp sensor, where would I relocate them to? Would I be correct if they were on the head, or motor somewhere?

I understand the flange angle issues, so that's a no brainer. I'm more concerned about the actual CTS and idiot sensor relocation.

Thanks

I don't know Tek, its kind of a big deal. :\

Here's the CTS on a highport:

That whole assembly (including the big hose adapter) is built into the manifold and the gasket on a lowport.

One thing that might work would be chopping off the "stumps" of the lowport manifold, then chopping the O2 and weld them together. That's how O2 does it anyway (uses the base of the stock manifold).

BTW, I'm actually working on a lowport motor right now. I can get some good pictures tonight to show you what I mean.

^Swiss takes the best pics. I love his work.

Maybe extend the sensors onto a block using AN lines?

OK here we go. Back of the head, notice the water line under the #1 port (far right):

Here's the manifold, again note the #1 runner:

Here's where that goes (the big nipple):

Here are the coolant temp sensors on the side:

That sucks that the highports have the sensors fitted into the manifold. I like how the VE has a seperate block for those.

Those lowports uh, ports, are tiny. I didn't think they were that small. How the hell do they outflow the highport?

Don't mean to get off topic. Just suprised by the pics is all.

Highports don't have them in the manifold. That is a set of pictures from a lowport. You have it goofed up, its quite easy to do

Swiss, thanks for the pic of the highport. That's EXACTLY what I wanted to see. Obviously not as easy as I had imagined. I guess I was somewhat correct in my assumption that I'd have to keep the coolant area of the manifold runner...
