check out the turbosmart e-boost from australia.
does gear dependant boost too, and may be cheaper with the weak aussie dollar

^^^ actually thats not a bad idea. Plus the avcr sucks arse. Everyone seems to rave about the turbosmart unit but i have had no first hand experience with one

I was out with the car last night getting some pics taken of her. And I broke a plug. 15psi run in 3rd gear and after the pull the car starts to miss. After stopping to eat and pulling cyl 2, it is bad. My BKR7E decided to crack a piece of the ceramic off and go into the cylinder. The plug is in bad shape, showing damage from the ceramic bouncing around in the cylinder.

I replaced the plug, and the car is running fine now, but the damage has been done .

This is the 2nd plug that I have cracked the ceramic on, the previous plug didn't have the ceramic drop into the cylinder though. I still don't know what caused this though. AFRs are 11.5 at WOT, base 15* timing on my 8.5:1 CR motor. No plugs showed any signs of detonation at all. I am a little frustrated. I have just under 13K miles on this motor and this happens. Granted, they are 13K very hard miles, but WTF?

Looks like testing will still be done on the manifold and cams etc, but an engine rebuild will be inevitable. Guess I can look forward to the Mazworx Hemi combustion chamber... I'll have to clean up the ceramic damage anyway.

How often do you change the plugs?

If you have 13k miles on the plugs, i'd be changing them out. Thats probobly one thing that kept my GTiR setup alive 4 years ago. The ceramic will get weak with heat and break off with the smallest amount of detonation once its weakened.

I change my bkr7 every 1500 miles.

I changed mine out in my GTiR every 2500-5000 miles on average. somewhere in there. I did a lot of freeway with the car though. I eventually changed to HKS racing plugs and got a MSD power coil then never had any problems. I did make another 11whp at 20psi with them too...

I had about 2K miles on the plugs. car still runs just fine. Burns a lil oil, but it's been doing that when it's cold for a while now. I'll switch to a lighter oil and that should help.

I've been running copper plugs at the track for some time now.I change them very often bacause they're cheap & ran fine with all my 30psi C16 runs so far.I buy them in boxes of 10 plugs.Sorry to hear about your motor issues.

Oh well. If it still runs fine, then I don't care much. The motor needs to last this season until late fall. By that time it will have over 24K miles or so and I will just port the head while I have it off.

I have been wanting to do valve springs for a while and get a stock head gasket to replace this cometic one, which will probably explode lol. I also have an annoying timing cover leak, and a little bit of blowby which I can fix while I am in there. I spent a good amount of money on these custom low CR pistons, so if they are tired I will replace them. The head concerns me a little bit. I guess I can invest in the mazworx hemi CC if the damage is bad enough?

I will worry about all that next season! For now, the motor still runs strong and will meet my goals for this year still (hopefully). I would still like to know what caused the damage to this plug in the first place. I hit the rev limiter daily, perhaps the fuel cut caused this?
