hey coheed are you running a T2 or T3 flanged mani.

T3.

I found a few leaks, not sure if I fixed them or not. but took the car out tonight for some datalogging. Timing is back to sucking hard just like before. Maf voltage peaks at around 4.44V or so. And timing goes as low at 6* or some crap. I'm gonna post up some of the datascan files if anyone wants to look at them.

Have you done a compression test or a leak down test on your motor???
You are 70+ whp down from were you should be....
Did you check your static timing with a timing ligth??
That should help you to diagnose if you have a skipped tooth on your timing chain....

^ x2 i definitly would check the compression of the motor to make sure that is up to par, ifi t was running fine prior to the mods then something is majorly wrong, while the boost leak can cause these issues, but if you fixed those and still seeing problems, its obviously a mixture of things

compression was 145 across the board. Timing was right at 15*. I found some pretty big boost leaks from some cheap ebay tbolts that were binding at the ends causing boost to come out. I am going to try to fix it. Maf volts before was 4.54 and now I am hittint about 4.5V with just regapping the plugs.

Engine burns no oil, but has blowby. Would prob fill the oil catch in 12K miles or so, so it isn't severe by any means.

I am running blow-thru, and I am pretty sure the maf has a little bit of contamination from oil on it. I am going to clean it just to make sure.

How much power and spool could I be losing if I had a few good-sized boost leaks? My question is, would it cause the efficiency of the turbo to drop so much that I lose that much power?

I max out tps at 4.06V. But when I look at the timing map I see a lot I don't like. I think this timing map needs work. I also get a code 21 for ignition fault. I think this is from the MSD, which I hope isn't causing any issues. I checked the plugs and they look really good. Gaps were too small though at around .022". This was from when I was running high boost so I gapped them up to .035". No det damage.

I am going to fix all my boost leaks and take it back. I won't be satisfied until I am making at least 380whp on this boost level.

I had just one boost leak from a clamp coming off and my car wouldn't it run with it like that, I think that is a huge factor in it. Also how much work would it be to take the msd back off.

MSD can be taken off in a half an hour.

I am going to try that just for kicks.

IMO your compression its no good for a VE-T my friends VE-T the lowest I have seen its 190psi on a good motor he gave once 145 and it had some bad valves he changed the head and compression went up again...
145 its good for a DET not for VE-T...
IMO boost leaks wont hurt your peak HP unless you have a massive one.. they mostly hurt the spool and mid range power because of that...
The MSD will cause that code 21 I have seen that too....
But again i dont think it will hurt the peak HP
I dont use an MSD box in my car and I still make power with .022 gap on my spark plugs....
If you are getting less maf voltage its either you have a massive boost leak before the maf or your motor its flowing less air thus making less HP....
I get 4.77 V on my car at 16psi good for 432whp 315ft/lbs... At 5.11v It makes 524whp 25psi just to give you an example...
Do you need to have a good way to pressure test yous system and fix all the leaks that's essential....

Thanks Payu, that helps a lot. Ya my VET is 8.5:1 compression. I tested it a little cold. the numbers are the same now as they were over a year ago.

if it feels faster dont stress too much. Dyno's can lie. Is it the same dyno as last time?
