VE-T twin scroll setup
As most of you know I will be doing some changes to my VE-T this spring. This is what I have lined up:

Swapping log mani to divided tubular.
Turbine housing from .63 to .78 divided.
Exhaust cutout for better response.
Lighter flywheel and better clutch.
Air/water intercooler, shorter 3" piping for better response.
And...
Slicks!

I will also dyno with my stock VE cams compared to the VET cams: Stock VET setup, VET exhaust with 20VE intake, and stock SR20VE cams. I will post up dyno charts of each test.

Goal is 11.3 sec 1/4 mile and make over 475whp average "uncorrected" power. I am at 4500ft so this should really move! By average, I mean I want to make an average of 475whp in my powerband from 5000-7500rpm.

If you guys had to guess, how much power would you guess I will gain by changing these parts over? My previous sheets:



22psi 13* base without exhaust vs 24psi 17* base with exhaust.

I made 361whp on 16psi, but since I have detuned slightly I would guess 350whp or so. I will be dynoing within a month to get some baseline numbers.

Excellent, it'll be great to see what this is capable of. Can you elaborate on the "exhaust cutout for better response"?

Are you gonna try & widen the powerband at all? 5k-7.5k doesn't seem that great for a VE-T

Well, as you can see my powerband right now is kinda crappy. I peak power and hold to redline, but when I shift and RPM drop to 5500rpm I lose a ton of power. I drop to 350whp at 5500rpm, down from 440. Ouch.

The exhaust cutout will help with turbo spool time (as shown on the graph) and it also made the engine rev much more freely. I figure the response of this setup should be pretty downright amazing. BB turbo, free flowing engine, light flywheel etc.

I am also going divided on the wastegate instead of recirc it back to the exhaust.

Also, if the powerband still isn't dropping off with the new setup, then I will be revving to 8000-8500rpm with valve springs and an MSD box.

i Think the 16ve Cams will be the winner with the bigger turbo, they have the advantage of that extra lift over the stock 20ve cams.

I'd love to see a mix of 16ve cams and VET cams!

Good luck with it all, cant wait to see the results! Ps i voted for 450HP

I think the VET is going to crave airflow on high cam with the right breathing mods going to see some awesome torque curves once tuned

So using a 1.15 correction factor, I will be around 517whp @ 24psi with this setup if I hit around 450whp uncorrected. This seem about right? I would love to hit the numbers manny hit with his setup. The FL boys seem to be making upwards of 500whp with similar setups.

A buddy of mine has the same turbo as me, .82 housing on his B18 and he made 567whp this past summer. I didn't think this turbo could move that much air...

For the right use of the TS (twin scroll) setup you will need to use 2 wastegates+ a well made manifold.
I would focus in the right" cam election here" the right turbo with smaller cams is actually a better way to get the power curve to your needs. , since you are focus to a wide powerband the exaust turbine housing will be very important as well as the cam selection plus the right timing(cams)( as I said before).
the 3076 in a VET its a 600+whp( dynojet) turbo at 30lbs aprox in the right setup.
I vote for 550+whp at 25-7lbs on you setup.
Looking at your dyno on top... what its the uncoreccted number? 1.18 its a little to high...

That dyno is absolutely amazing. Thanks for the post. The correction factor is high because of the low ambient pressure way up here. I would like to hit 475-500whp uncorrected, but it will be really pushing this turbo to do so. I would like to hit 500whp on 24psi or less.

Again, that dyno is exactly what I am shooting for, just on a slightly lower boost.

i said 450 but being conservative, the divided manifold and liquid to air cooling will help! you have one of the best set-ups. what you doing with your old stuff
