Yup you got it that and the fact I'm not all into the "scene" no one ever looks at my dirty/cheap-ass Home Depot-fied engine bay but me.

But I was-re wrapping with some old fiberglass, it is just not the same after it has been broken in once. But after that layer I put on another layer of fiberglass sheet with foil backing and then the stock heat shield. I measured it with an infrared thermometer and it was a good deal cooler and stayed that way longer than without it.

I have seen a few folks put the ICs behind the radiator like 400hp SRs. They will still work they are just not optimal. But the way my pipe is you can do it either way or go farther forward. I just didn't want to cut up my NXs lip that I had to hunt high and low for. The other thing about the way I did my pipe is that it will work well with a much larger top to bottom feed IC, which should out flow a side to side one (like the stock top mount in there now) and get rid of some bends in the pipe. If only I could find someone with a metal bandsaw... no place around seems to have one though

It's not about being in the "scene" but just having some pride in your work. It's about learning from your mistakes and relearning how to do things right and only do it once. I'm not dissing you in any way, but i would believe that everyone wants a sense of cleanliness in their ride, life, house, etc.
