What head studs are recmmended for the GTI-R??
I was just wondering what head studs you guys who have done them one gtir's recommend? I am currently changing my head studs and head gasket and i want to know what and where to buy? I am leaning towards Cosworths, which i found for 420 dollars here Cosworth High Performance Cylinder Head Stud Kit (Nissan SR20DET (2.0L) 12mm) [C EDO Performance

Does anybody know if I can get them cheaper? I already ordered a Apexi head gasket, I just have to get the head studs.

thanks
john

Jon, you may have to be bent over and cop it... $ 400 does seem steep but i cant find an alternative either & i looked on the internet all f*kin day trying to find what i was looking for.
I did find greddy if i was prepared to cop a $975 reaming...which im NOT
Even looked on the cosworth site & they only show the 11mm sr20 studs.
But i did send an email to A1 fasteners who apparently make the golden eagle stuff...so hopepfully we can find an alternative like the B16 in 11mm x 1.5
I did some searching to find other M12 x 1.5 ...and found that porsche 928 /honda odyssey & accord v6 use this size ,but im trying to find out the lengths to determine if we can use these or from another manufacturer.
Im hoping A1 technologies fasteners gets back to me with some good news.
Most of their studs seem to have the undercut shank too...unlike the arp's.

the head studs from cosworth on the link above really look like ARP to me.
ARP also supplies head studs to Tomei and Jun.
I don't know what to think about them. I am also rebuilding my gti-r motor and i have a set of ARP head studs , but now I am a bit confused.
But the fact that Tomei and Jun use ARP should be a guarantee.
I don't know in the USA, but in Uk a lof of high power GTi-r are using ARP head studs and they seem to hold well.
ARP is a top company, don't know how it is possible for them to badly design a head stud...

there are a few 400-450bhp cars using arps now, i wouldn't call that high power tbh, standard head bolts would hold easily. Robs (517bhp) was using nismo studs, which have the design where it bottoms out in the block. You cant get these anymore. The older dp spec motors (lou and jay) were running porsche 911 studs iirc.

mike car ( a mate of mine) did 620bhp, standard head bolts.

theres a guy in nz with a fwd gtir engined pulsar, 650bhp, he's using arp studs with no issues, head was lifting with the standard bolts, but thats more likely to be due to abit of det i would've thought as the boost level was reasonably sensible.

So what do you recommend? Should I get stock, arp, cosworth, or any others??

help me out here?

btw I am only going to making 350whp dd and 400+ at the track...but want to be ready for something like a gt3076r or sc62.

I am not using a regular sr20. I want peoples opinions that own gtirs and have upgraded there headstuds and what they use. Honestly I really can care less about a regular sr20de motor.

for the power you are looking for, standard studs will be perfect

Maybe i will just go with the ARP's then. What do you think?

btw did you get that rocker out yet? And btw my spring or whatever you want to call it because it really isn't a spring is in good condition.
