No idea how feasable this would be, but what about cutting a section off the 6" round muffler and making it flat on the bottom? So instead of looking like an O it looks more like a D with the flat part of the D facing the ground to give better ground clearance. In theory it shouldn't be that hard to do. Just cut a section off with a band saw or some other form of device capable of making a straight cut, then welding up a new flat piece of metal to it.
